Nice to see Jake Moody doing well. I was concerned in the preseason. At present, Moody has kicked 52 consecutive PATs, tied for the longest streak since the PAT became a 33 yard kick in 2015. He's made 18 of 21 FG attempts, and is 8th in the league in scoring with 107 points (McCaffrey is #3 with 120 points, tied with former 49er Raheem Mostert).
Unfortunately the three misses include his only truly “big” attempt. The 41 yarder vs Cleveland. He’s going to need to make his next big pressure kick. Cause that’s job criterion 1 for an NFL kicker.
Yeah, that was disappointing. He's perfect under 40 yards, he has the 2nd most points in the NFL among kickers with 107 (Brandon Aubrey of Dallas is a perfect 31/31 on FGs.). Moody is ninth in the league overall in FG % at 85.7%. Hopefully he makes the next big kick.

Both Dallas and Philly lost this weekend. Niners don't have to win out, now. They have the Ravens on Monday night.
BTW, not all that bothered that the 49ers gave up 29. The Cardinals were coming off of their bye week, they had two weeks to prepare. And, of course, Hargraves and Armstead were out.

Aubrey is quite a story. Was a soccer player at ND. Didn’t play football. Big leg. Hasn’t missed a kick.
85.7 is only 9th. As I said, NFL kickers are unreal. Sometimes I think it would be be a better game without kicking. No FGs have to go for 2.

As noted, Moody is 53 for 53 on PATs this season. Since the kick was moved to the 15-yard line in 2015, the record for most made PATs in a season without a miss had been 52 by Stephen Gostkowski for the New England Patriots in 2015.

Laid an egg. Happens over 17. Forget it and win last 2. Sure hope Williams and Banks are ok.

Exhibition game vs. Rams. Lots of starters sitting out for both teams. For Rams, game could effect seeding, but they don’t care. Also, there is a chance they play again in 3 weeks, so definitely will be a close to the vest game.

I was going to post last week that the layout of teams in the NFC was the best it could be for the Niners. If things went to seed, they would likely play the Eagles, who were struggling, rather than the Cowboys, who were surging, first, thanks to the latter grabbing the NFC East near the end; this seems preferable to playing the Cowboys first. In the meantime, the Cowboys would have to make it through two games before they would play the Niners, and while the Cowboys are looking good now, their recent tendency to bomb in the playoffs would make it not-so-definite that they would make it that far.
This game is making that point too I feel.

Not looking so good at all, and are flaming out, even with significant help from the refs. . ..

Who to root for, Rams or Lions? Feel like the Lions are a mirage and the Rams are on the upswing. Thinking the Lions would be an easier out for the Niners, if they can get past the impressive Packers.

Packers look pretty good, and they've won 7 of their last 9, including the Cowboys. But the Niners are at home, they are VERY well rested, and Brock Purdy will absolutely shred their marginal pass defense. Dak Prescott had 400+ yards; imagine what he could do if he had McCaffrey, Samuel, Aiyuk, Kittle, Jennings, Juszyzsk, etc. Packers gave up 94.7 passer rating this season, 25th in the NFL.
Niners gave up third fewest points on defense, Packers gave up 10th fewest. Niners offense scored 2nd most points in the NFL, Packers offense scored 11th most.
On special teams, Packers have a marginal kicker. Fewest touchbacks in the league, missed five PATs, 81% FG. 7 of 13 FGAs from 40 or more yards.
Packers defense had the second fewest INTs in the NFL. Niners defense had the most INTs in the NFL. Niners were +10 in turnover margin, Packers were 0. Niners are undefeated when Brock Purdy doesn't throw an INT. I think the Niners win going away.

Not a Dallas fan. I had a brother-in-law from Plano, TX...a Stanford grad, as it happens. He told me, in all sincerity, that he felt it was important for America that the Dallas Cowboys have a winning football team. For my son's second birthday, he sent me a full Troy Aikman outfit; helmet, jersey, pants. I waited until my son was in full tantrum in that getup, took a picture and sent the photo to my BIL, letting him know that I captured Troy Aikman's essence.
I hadn't realized that Dallas hasn't been back to the NFC Championship Game since they won the Super Bowl in 1996. This will mark the 28th year of the NFCCG drought for Mr. Jones. They're 8-6 since the start of the NFCCG's, but 0-0 since 1997. Niners are 7-11 overall in NFCCGs. Honestly, I didn't realize the Niners had been to 18 NFCCG's compared to Dallas's 14 or that SF has been to the NFCCG seven times since Dallas's last NFCCG...and that this year will probably make it eight.

I have probably said this on this board before but my three favorite teams are the 49ers, the Packers, and whoever is playing Dallas this week. Yesterday was a good day.
