So hard to tell.

and so hard to find recent torn acl news on any of the 2022's listed on page 1 - (at least by trying a google search by name and acl). several had torn acl's a year or 2 ago.

I heard Wenzel chose Virginia Tech, who wasn’t even on her list. We shall see.

Gardiner is the one w/ the knee injury. She just had surgery a few days ago.

Well sort of a Stanford connection to VA Tech. Bobby Kelsey coached Brittany Anderson there

Timea Gardiner down to Oregon State, Stanford, and UCLA.

"Gardiner is considered a five-star recruit, and ESPN ranks her No. 4 among girls in the class of 2022. She’s narrowed down her college choices to three Pac-12 programs: Oregon State, Stanford and UCLA."

As someone on the Notre Dame board pointed out, Gardiner has liked a lot of OSU posts and so they think she might be a lean or silent commit there.  However, I am still hopeful that she will choose the Cardinal.  Also, the article was really interesting in pointing out that Gardiner plays the wing for her high school team.  So different from Hannah Jump who played center on her high school team.  I do like Gardiner's flexibility and hopefully that makes Stanford attractive as we definitely play a positionless, flexible style of basketball.

Gardiner has liked a number of Stanford Instagram posts also. That’s Oregon State OSU.

Junp played post at Pinewood only as a Sr. Small school brobdingnagian program

6'6" Mendelson says she wants to play both basketball and volleyball in college.  Would that rule out Stanford because Tara would not allow it due to year round practice routine for basketball at Stanford.

My guess is there's a good chance Mendelson will realize if she wants to excel she'll have to pick one or the other.

With the height differential it's really not a fair battle under the boards.

Also not fair when the opponents try to defend an entry pass.  On one of those plays, she was surrounded by four(!) opponents, but their defense was futile because she was playing a foot above them.

WRT volleyball, do we know for sure that there is no way Tara would allow?  She did, after all, let Kristin Folkl play VB.

don't know if it's still possible, but women have played both sports at stanford in past years. kristin folkl is the prime example. maybe it depends just how elite you are (or how thin we are at the post). with folkl, i can imagine the scene as, "yes, ma'am, whatever you wish, ma'am."

edit: sorry, boston, we posted at the same time.

Yamasaki played and Wiggins was on the 2004 championship team but didn’t play and left for basketball when that practice started.

RE: NEW, Feb 14 Women's Basketball Recruiting - BobK - 02-26-2021

Wenzel to VaTech

RE: NEW, Feb 14 Women's Basketball Recruiting - Phogge - 02-26-2021

If I were a two sport kid who excelled at and enjoyed both sports I would tell the coach who forbade playing both to take a flying.... Saw some examples of it at a famous SF HS where my son played two sports. The girls VB coach was a tyrant who told the kids they had to play on his club team in the off season. Coaches like that should never get a job.

Stanford coaches would never over a scholarship where the player dictates sports. Only if they all agree
We have a baseball commit which we are also recruiting for football. In this case both coaches are ok. However baseball and football seasons don’t overlap. Wvb and basketball seasons overlap by 7 weeks

Remind me, are bball/vball dual citizens mandatory counters for basketball?

Well now 17 years ago but Wiggins on a bb scholarship and didn’t count on VB

Remember both are full scholarship sports. Not like baseball to football like Brock Jones last year

Hey Bob, I think when you updated the first post to cross off Littlefield, you may have inadvertently deleted a couple (or maybe you moved a few).  We somehow lost our commit!
