Reacquired in '67 as a project and holy crap won the Cy Young. Pierce was a mainstay of the '62 pennant winners and would have won 20 if he hadn't been disabled for weeks in mid season. Almost unbeatable at CP. Bolin was serviceable but never close to an ace, Sanford had one of the best years ever but faded and Pierce, Jones and O'Dell were at the end of their career.
The Giants traded away the future (2nd place wizards) for the present and it worked out in '62 but there wasn't another WS until 1989.
IIRC Sanford was old for a rookie. I think he came up and won ROY with the Phils when he was 28. By the time the Giants got him I think he was 30. I remember Hodges and Simmons calling him "Burly Jack."

O’Dell and Loes for Brandt
O’Dell won 19 in 1962
Toothpick Jones came in 1959 for Bill White and Ray Jablonski. Jones won 39 games over two years

Sanford won 24 in '62. Something like 14 straight. Later on might have owned a golf course or driving range.

I thought one of the hangups was that the money generated from the expanded playoffs went completely to the owners.

Where has this left the NL DH, seven inning nitecaps and the 10th inning faux double?
I would also implement no leaving the box unless you've fouled one off and a pitch timer that is enforced by an off field ump. Delays would bring a warning, then a ball, then two balls.... I'd bring back IF and OF drills before the games and pepper. I never played with a guy who didn't enjoy a good pepper game.
The owners purposal kept the DH, seven inning DHs and the faux double. But the players are saying they will report on time for a regular 162. Maybe they will work it out. But probably not. Manfred is a disaster.

That may be. Don’t know. But sounds like something the owners would do.

Giants only have $29.2 million committed in 2022, most of that to Evan Longoria, and the rest being Posey's or Cueto's buyout.

Yes, the tired “money off the books refrain”. So undoubtedly every FA they target in ‘22 they’ll get. Ahh, no. I repeat, they had plenty of money this year to sign a major target. And they fell further behind both the Dodgers and Padres this offseason.
Giants go 68-94. Dodgers and Pads challenge for the NL title. So if you are a player how are the Giants looking to you? I just think they have put way too many eggs in the ‘22 basket. Yes, they have built up the farm system. Hopefully that lands some future stars. But it’s a crap shoot.
