Well I Heard what Graves had to say about using covid as an excuse to not re schedule games. Almost 800,000 dead an it’s an excuse. BS.

Oh I see now what you mean. I didn't take it that way--I thought he was talking about teams being unwilling to reschedule even when they had sufficient players. But I'll listen again.

Sorry 81. This was from a statement I read that Graves made. I read it this morning

My admiration for Graves which had ticked down just ticked back up. I appreciate what he said about scheduling and more important how he has been willing to make up games, even when some opponents have not.
I'm with you 81Alum. BobK is taking Coach Graves comments out of context. Graves point is that games need to be played and if there are 5 available bodies on his team to put on the floor, his team will play the game. That is the exact same mindset Tara has had with our team. Look at the Washington State game and the multiple games we've had people out due to Covid protocol (Hannah Jump, Haley Jones, Jana most recently). We've had starters and key players out, yet we are playing the games. Apparently other programs are not always willing to play if that is the case. Good for us and good for Oregon to play if possible.

I bet the press pounced on Graves. I can see how they could isolate a sentence out of that interview that would be explosive and I would probably have reacted the same way. Gotcha journalism. Only later in the day when the video goes up do we discover what Graves meant.

It seemed like they haven't fully gotten over losing their key reserve Keyen Green, even though they've won their last two games against Missouri (only team so far to beat South Carolina this season) and Vanderbilt
North Carolina just edged out Louisville
Jordan Horston also went down late in the game and her injury apparently looked quite bad. Maybe KJH is the Jared Haase of women's basketball, because it feels like her TN teams start strong then swoon late in every season.

What is happening in the Arizona-UW game?
Arizona is leading 16-7 at the half, as in points. Not rebounds or shot attempts, but points.

Arizona wins a surprisingly close game. As does Oregon against Cal. Both a lot tighter than I would have expected.

The Eastern time zone Sports Network is finally discovering there are decent women's basketball teams outside of CT. Wish they would spend a bit more time out of the SEC, but at least it is not Connecticut.

Likely to be a blow-out since Tennessee has lost Jordan Horston indefinitely -- their leading scorer, rebounder, assists etc. person. She had 16 points and 12 rebounds against Stanford. I really feel for Tennessee, the injury losses are crippling -- leading to the drop from a possible #1 seed (in the 1st reveal) to now #4, and possibly heading for below #4, not hosting 1st and 2nd rounds.

I know some on this board think SC is unbeatable and while I think they are a tough out, I'm not always as impressed. Today vs Tennessee their numbers;
32% from the field
31 offensive rebounds
If a team can keep them off the O boards or at least limit them considerably, they can be beat. How do you get that many second chances and still shoot such an abysmal percentage. Their offense doesn't impress me. It's the rebounding and their ability to turn teams over. Can our elite offense if we are clicking beat an elite defense and rebounding team, I think yes we can.

Nice gesture as OSU's Andrea Aquino, who has never been able to play due to a health issue, starts on Senior Day and Cal allows her to score unopposed before she comes out to a big round of applause.

That is really sweet, brought a tear to my eye. I discussed and linked her background in the Oregon State thread. A graduating senior on senior day getting her first minute and first score on a box score. Such a hard luck story.
