Why is it the second my wife walks in, OK drives in two?

At least we have someone to blame now. ;-)
Cheers,

The team played really well today. NiJaree was just awesome. One bobble in the outfield was the difference in this game.
Don't like the bunt with 1st and 2nd one out in the first inning, but it was a close tight contest, in which Oklahoma was
just a little bit better. Hard to be disappointed with how we played. We took perhaps the greatest college softball
team of all time all the way to the finish line.

WCWS: Stanford phenom NiJaree Canady takes softball's main stage - ESPN
lot of props to Canady
RE: Stanford Softball 2022-2023 - Softball Fan - 06-02-2023
Quote from the above article about Canady:
She held the nation's best offense -- the Sooners bat .372 as a team, lead the country in homers and average 8.39 runs per game -- to just two runs, with just one earned. She held OU without an extra-base hit for the first time in 105 games. She held the Sooners to their fewest runs scored in an NCAA tournament game since the 2019 WCWS, when Alabama beat them 1-0. She made a lasting impression on the most decorated coach in softball history.
"She has become one of the hardest-throwing, ball-moving freshmen I've ever seen," Gasso said after the game.

Stanford vs Alabama at 4:00 pm today on ESPN. With Alabama facing elimination their ace pitcher Montana Fouts is expected to get the start. I predict a struggle for Stanford to score a run. Hope I'm wrong about that.
This is an opportunity for Stanford to metaphorically show it deserved to be in the top eight seeds rather than Alabama. Of course, it's questionable how much one game proves as the better team doesn't always win.

We didn't already prove we deserved Duke's top #8 seed by sweeping them? :) In all seriousness, this is definitely a statement game for the Cardinal. Can we continue our strong form against the Crimson Tide? For two teams in different conferences, somewhat surprisingly, this is the fourth matchup between these two teams in two years.
Other question is who starts for Stanford? I think a compelling argument could be made for starting either Canady or Vawter. I think both would be successful against an Alabama offense that has, similar to ours, been up and down. Fouts is a great pitcher, but is she still dealing with lingering issues from her hyper-extended knee in the SEC tournament. Every team at the WCWS is tough, but if Stanford plays its game, I think they can do quite well today.

The bunt with a runner already on second no outs. Again, not sure that is what I would have gone with. Stanford unfortunately strands a runner that would have given it an early lead.
Fouts seems to be laboring on the injured knee, particularly on defense.
Stanford takes the lead!!

The NCAA site has Alabama in the lead. However, they have the wrong logos attached to the lineups and play by play. . . .

Stanford maintains a tight 1-0 lead heading to the B5. Alana Vawter has delivered a really good outing so far.

It’s exciting Can’t blame bringing in Canady. But Vawter was awesome.

What a unbelievable catch by Kaitlyn Lim! Other than an error early in the game,
this defense has been outstanding for Stanford.

So happy for her. She has put the team on her back offensively in this game. Nija's turn to bring us to the finish line.
