As a Dallas guy, happy for SMU and myself a bit.
This is all sorts of crazy.
I vote for a creation of a satellite campus in Central or Eastern Time zone to house athletes for their competitive seasons.

Yes same here.
I daily mourn the loss of the PAC.
But when WSU and OSU bring up their grievances, to whomever they can appeal to (Caeser?),
they need to start with USC/UCLA for lighting the fuse.
And then move on to their NW big sister schools that coulda stomped the fuse out but instead poured an accelerant on it.

I'm not going to blame the LA schools.
I don't think we were flexible enough in the past and certainly had our head in the sand.
Holding pattern. Optimism: Maybe Olympic sports will benefit from this arrangement.

Now is the time to start accepting the ACC future rather than the Pac-12 present and Pac-10 past.
Football - Having 4 or more games in the South every year has to be a net positive for recruiting in that region. Travel sucks, but UCLA, USC, UW, Oregon and Cal will all have a number of 4+ hour flights too.
Men's Basketball - This is a massive positive for the program. What recruit wouldn't be more excited about UVa, UNC, Duke, NSU and Wake than the current Pac-12 opponents? Way better for their actual personal NILs too.
Soccer? Field Hockey? Lacrosse? Golf? - The benefits of improved competition and games in a critical recruiting region will be epic.
I still see the ACC as a row boat in stormy seas, but the row boat is better than the sinking ship that was the Pac-4.
I also hope the Stanford BoT is preparing for life after football, since it is highly unlikely Stanford will be in the mix when the NCAA distills down to ~32-36 teams in two super conferences. The next wave probably will start with the ACC disbanding, so best for Stanford to be prepared for the next shake-up.

I think this bolsters Coach Taylor TONIGHT in the Locker Room @Hawaii because the Team will want to make a statement to ACC foes.
And he gets to keep much of his boffo 2024 recruiting class -- Impressive start by Taylor.

NC State realized they are just UNC's booty call. UNJ-Durham is UNC's real dance partner.
Ping me if you want to join my Stanford-BC tailgate. I am walking distance to Alumni Stadium and the soccer and lacrosse fields are in my backyard. I'm also looking forward to various trips around ACC-land. Syracuse in particular so I can swing by a couple of the best breweries in the world (Fidens and Mortalis).
This does suck for the current crop of athletes but I think the travel burden will prove untenable for B1G, ACC and Big12 so this is just a life raft until the next round of realignment.

Honestly it isn't a crazy idea at all, although I wouldn't limit it to athletes. Maybe a semi-permanent, small campus in Texas or in DC or something which would be fulsome enough to allow both athletes and non-athletes to take a variety of classes, but not a full campus or anything close to it. Would make things easier on the athletes for certain. It seems like an odd thing to do, but then again joining the ATLANTIC coast conference, while the most sensible thing to do under the circumstances, is also an odd thing to do objectively, and may call for other oddities to make it more workable for our impacted students.

So, some kind of "Hopkins Marine Station" and Tele-Research facility in NC?
Research Triangle Park would be logical for Environmental Data Processing Center...
Do an 8-9 day swing to the East Coast and play a couple games. Save on travel / time zone shift.
We ARE a NATIONAL Univ (actually Global). Frankly ORST and WAST are not. That's just the case.
