Wow… Florida has now played seven — count ‘em, SEVEN — five-set matches this season, including their last five!  They are 5-2 in those matches, with the losses being today and earlier to Wisconsin.

Keep in mind that Florida is a drastically changed team from the one that beat us as they’ve lost their starting setter for the season in Alexis Stucky. It’ll be interesting to keep an eye on how they continue to perform this season-but it’s good for our hosting odds for Florida to pick up a loss like this one.

Stanford is 39-2 at home against Arizona State.  History is on the side of your prediction.  ASU #12 in RPI ranking so a Stanford win would be helpful for the tournament body of work.

Yes, has Tufuga ever played MB before?  I didn't see Smith at the match.  Is she still injured?  Without Smith as a backup for Francis it's a big problem.

Why didn't Hambly let Belardi and Harvey finish the third set.

I think Tufuga has filled in at middle before. I don't remember just when or how much.

Bringing in Belardi looked like it was a double sub thing to keep a setter in the back row. Probably a good strategy especially for the rotations with Tufuga in front row. I think it's something Hambly has done previously this year too, though not because of middle issues.

The injury certainly looked painful, seems to be the ankle.  But no idea how serious.

Agree the double-sub was to keep a back-row setter (6-2).

Recruits Mullen and Harvey were reported to be there.

I missed this SF Chronicle article about women's sports when it came out a few weeks ago.  Includes quotations from Hambly and Baird.

And an OT rant:  I think the traffic circles on Campus Drive are a disaster.  That type of intersection may work efficiently if you are dealing only with motor vehicles.  But once you put in the random flow of pedestrians, who have the right of way, you can get gridlock.  It was really bad around 5pm last night, traveling counterclockwise toward Maples.  I'm no traffic engineer, but I think basic four-way traffic lights would work better during busy times.  They could be flashing red/yellow off-peak.
