That is really sweet, brought a tear to my eye.  I discussed and linked her background in the Oregon State thread.  A graduating senior on senior day getting her first minute and first score on a box score.  Such a hard luck story.

My hat's off to Charmin Smith!

Dammit, this makes me feel good about something done by cal.

Baez87 - Baez87 - 02-24-2022

Last night Colorado gave warning to the other PAC-12 teams as they enter the tournament season by beating Oregon 83-80 in two overtimes! They outscored Oregon without Hollingshed in the overtimes.

While agreeing with the basic point of the post - Colorado cannot be taken lightly - I have to say that Oregon was ripe for a let down game in Boulder following what had to be a tough L for them at home to Stanford.  Maybe this is what I mean:  Colorado looked like a dangerous team to me, even before last night (which certainly reinforced that belief).

The Buffs are an NCAA team (and better than Utah), yes?

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - Lorcan - 02-24-2022

As Stanford, we should be reasonably happy that Colorado escaped against Oregon as that boosts Colorado to be the current #6 seed, and on the opposite side of the bracket from us.

As things stand today, the bracket would be as follows:

#1 Stanford v (#8 UCLA v. #9 Arizona State)
#4 Oregon v. (#5 Utah v. #12 Washington)
#3 Arizona v. (#6 Colorado v. #11 California)
#2 Washington State v. (#7 Oregon State v. #10 Southern Cal)

You can utilize your preferred results in this link to determine the seeds for the tournament: http://bball.notnothing.net/pac12.php?sport=wbb

Please note that this does not include any other makeup games that may or may not happen at this juncture.

In my opinion, the MOST likely results are as follows:

Stanford sweeps the Washington Schools.
Arizona State splits in LA, beating USC and losing to UCLA.
California splits with the Washington Schools, beating Washington but losing to Wazzu.
UCLA splits with the Arizonas, beating State, but losing to UA.
USC gets swept by the Arizona's.
Utah beats Oregon State, but loses to Oregon
Colorado beats Oregon State
Oregon beats Utah
Oregon State gets swept by the Mountains.
Wazzu Splits in Northern California.

You get the gist -- hopefully.

The results would spit out the following:

1. Stanford (16 - 0)
2. Arizona (11 - 5)
3. Oregon (11 - 6) Defeated Wash St based on head-to-head record (1-0).
4. Wash St (11 - 6) Lost to Oregon based on head-to-head record (0-1).
5. Colorado (9 - 7)
6. Utah (8 - 7)
7. UCLA (7 - 9)
8. Oregon St (6 - 9)
9. Ariz St (5 - 8)
10. Cal (3 - 9)
11. USC (4 - 13)
12. Wash (1 - 13)

That being said, there's lots of permutations that could change things. For example, if Arizona split with UCLA and USC, and Oregon beats Utah, and Wazzu splits in Northern California, Arizona could fall to a 4 seed and be on our half of the bracket.

Also, I'll give a shout out here to Lindy La Rocque for wrapping up at least a share of the Mountain West Title in her second season at the helm with three games remaining. What a second season for Lindy!

Great job, Lorcan. Thanks for your efforts! Now we wait and see how clear your crystal ball is.

Paige Bueckers has been cleared to play by the UConn surgeon and will be available to play Friday night against St Johns

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - joemontes - 02-24-2022

Arizona is about to lose to UCLA at home without Cate REESE, who is out indefinitely probably including the PAC 12 tournament.

With this loss, they're in danger of dropping to 4th place in the regular season final standings, which will put them on a collision course with Stanford in the PAC 12 tournament.

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - chimera - 02-25-2022

I don't understand the conference this season.  Teams are so inconsistent across the board.  I know losing Reese hurts UA, but they have been struggling and losing before she got hurt.  They have been going downhill, not improving over the course of the season.  UO got all their stars back, and it looked like they would be a beast.  Instead they play a few great games mixed with some perplexing losses.  OSU can play well at times but they are not consistently good and will almost certainly miss the NCAAs unless they somehow win the P-12 tournament.  WSU simply is not that good yet sit in second place.  ASU had a couple of big wins and then started losing.  UCLA has been an injury plagued mess.  This was supposed to be a year the conference had a bunch of top teams.  Not so much...

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - PVTree - 02-25-2022

I think the only P12 teams that will reach the S16 are Stanford and Oregon. All other teams that make the tourney will fall on the first weekend.

Not impressed by how Zona, Colorado, WSU, OSU, and Utah have played when I've watched them.

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - joemontes - 02-25-2022

If Arizona loses to USC (very possible without Cate REESE) and Oregon loses to Utah (very possible) and Colorado beats Oregon State (very possible) and WSU beats Cal (most likely) this Sunday, the top half of the final standings will look like:

#1) Stanford  16-0
#2) WSU  11-6
#3) Utah  9-6
#4) Oregon  10-7
#5) Colorado  9-7  (20-7)
#6) Arizona  9-7  (19-7)

Hmmm, who would have thought that Arizona, who was ranked as high as #4 overall nationally in Dec, could possibly falter this low!

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - petersalas - 02-25-2022

Speaking of the PAC 12 Tournament, we confirmed at the game yesterday that the Stanford ticket office is already selling tickets. We didn’t receive any communication, however they advised us that the allotted tickets are in sections 111 and 112, with 112 being for passes and guests. Just thought I’d share since we have put off buying tickets to get them through Stanford.

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - BobK - 02-25-2022

I bought tix on the 15th thru Stanford but don’t have them yet.

111 and 112 are in the corner, so maybe not great views. Here's a chart.

Back to national news, Paige Bueckers returns for UConn tonight. She basically has 2 final regular season games today and Sunday plus the Big East conference tournament to re-integrate her game back with her teammates before the tournament.

We bought our tix last fall when they were first offered. In section 120, which should be good, pretty low down. Not in the official Stanford section but we got a block of 10 and all are now gone to Stanford friends including our seatmates from Maples, so we'll have our own "Stanford Section" in great seats.

RE: General WBB 21-22 Season - petersalas - 02-25-2022

No, not really a great view but at this point there’s really not many other great options… unless buying resale tickets at double the price.. this is my first time planning a trip for the PAC 12 tournament, so the seats are what they are.. I’m sure it’ll be a great and fun time anyway. Next time I know to buy them early even if not in the Stanford allotted seats.
