I don't know if this is relevant to any of the players in discussion.   I was surprised to see the extreme variation is acceptance rate for PAC-12 schools.  There are a couple schools that will basically accept anyone.
Yes, not all Pac 12 schools are alike--gargantuan variation.  We all knew Stanford had a ridiculously low acceptance rate, then USC, Berkeley, and UCLA are the only really selective schools.  Washington accepts half.  Everyone else is above 75%.  For comparison, SJSU accepts 63%, which makes it more selective than 6 of the Pac 12 schools, and UC Santa Cruz is 51% and Santa Clara is 48%, putting them on par with Washington.  The one that really surprised me was Oregon, which was a "destination school" for a lot of California kids shut out of the elite UCs.  At 80% it sure doesn't look very elite--WSU is 75%.

Of course there is a lot more than acceptance rates that that make a university a good destination--much more--but the admissions people used to brag about their selectivity and clearly a few Pac 12 schools don't have that particular feature to brag about.

OMG ASU at 86% must be like another 4 years of high school.  I would love to know the admit rates for UConn, ND, Baylor, SCarolina, Duke etc...

UConn: 49.4%
ND: 15.8%
Baylor: 45.3%
Duke: 7.6%

I can't believe they did this. I wouldn't fire anyone this season, but I think she's a great coach who was thrown into the fire of an incredibly strong Pac-12 conference.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but I suspect that it is a great deal higher % for athletes at both Baylor and U Conn

I remember some years back when it was all the rage to make super conferences with as many teams as possible.  Oklahoma State was trying hard to get into the PAC-12.   Many PAC-12 fans said Oklahoma State was not a good fit academically for this conference.  I'm too lazy to look up OSU's admit rate but I would bet it is more selective than Arizona State and Oregon State.

Edit: Yep, as usual you are correct BobK about not being a research school. You have a good memory.

I agree.  This was a bad move, unless they already have a terrific person lined up.

Definitely, premiere guards will be the priority. Losing Gardiner would not be as stinging as losing Rice or even Jones as we need top guard play to complement our posts and match up against the likes of Bueckers and Fudd at UConn or Raven Johnson and Saniya Rivers, the #2 and #3 recruits of the '21 Class, both guards, heading to play for Dawn Staley at South Carolina.

I think it would be good to get another big in the Class of '22.  Usually you would want 6 bigs total across your 4 classes.  It's just Brink in '20, Iriafen in '21 and Betts in '22.  Maybe Demetre ('21) can play the 4.  So if we don't get another big in '22 then we would need 2 or 3 in the class of '23 which is too many bunched together.  I'm hoping for a class of Betts, Nnaji, Rice and Jones.

Demetre has the length to play the four.  I think Tara is evolving the offense to stress speed at all five positions--threes nd layins and to hell with the set up, midrange 2.  The incoming class, to a woman, can run.

Regis Jesuit also had Washington commit Avery Van Sickle. They’ll play Valor Christian in the championship which has Colorado commit Kindyll Wetta and injured Oregon State commit Raegan Beers.

I think the "dream schools" quotes were from before a Stanford offer was reported. So hopefully she is dreaming bigger now. :)

UConn gets second top-5 recruit in 2022 class in Ayanna Patterson (espn.com)

Over UCLA and ND and 2 others. ND in turmoil right now - 3 freshmen transferring out, 2 were 5star recruits.

Are they really in turmoil though? The players leaving are ones who got no playing time. The bigger issue would have been if top players were leaving the program.
