Kim Barnes Arico, Michigan's head coach, is building a Big-10 powerhouse and her recruiting is paying off.  She was initially getting (maybe) 1 super recruit a year, but now more are coming.  Back in the day, my favorite Big-10 school was Michigan State which routinely beat Michigan.  Those days are over.

Agara is at Stanford  on her Offical.  Wonder who else ??

Hannah Hidalgo is visiting Stanford this weekend. Current commits Chloe Clardy, and Courtney Odgen are here also. May be others. I'll try to find out.

RE: Class of 2023+ - BobK - 10-08-2022

Kate follows Smith on Twitter. Smith was just at ucla and usc

RE: Class of 2023+ - Card10Fan - 10-08-2022

Mikayla Blakes, ESPN #16 for class of 2024 is other recruit on official/unofficial visit this weekend along with; Clardy, Ogden, Hidalgo, Agara

Might've been mentioned before, but Mikayla's brother is a reserve guard at Duke.

Another piece of trivia: I learned that ESPN's #5 ranked player for 2024, 6'2" aptly named Sarah Strong, is the daughter of Allison Feaster-Strong, who led Harvard's upset over a injury-ridden Stanford in the 1st round of the 1998 NCAA Tournament with 35 points. No indication that Stanford is recruiting Sarah Strong, but she might be the most intriguing player of her class—beat out Nunu Agara, Indya Nivar, and 2024's #1 Joyce Edwards as the sole c/o 2024 member of the USA U18 3x3 that won gold this summer. Has been compared to former Texas A&M star Danielle Adams.

Fingers crossed on Hannah Hidalgo! She is a deceptively strong finisher despite her small stature.

In about 20 years, I don't think I've seen a recruit keep their cards as close to the vest as Juju Watkins. Still hoping there's a chance for Stanford, but for all we know, maybe she plans to go pro out of HS ;-P

A little surprised, but I was salivating more over the top wing in the class after hers: Jasmine Davidson.

Watkins was on the USC campus again this weekend. She's visited there before. It's anyone's guess which school she chooses. At this point, it almost seems like she might wait until the spring signing period. I could see USC, UCLA, or Arizona as her finalists. I know her family has openly discussed her wanting to stay close to home. You would think if Stanford was a finalist, she would have visited this weekend when all the other 2023 recruits were present.

RE: Class of 2023+ - BobK - 10-09-2022

Great point on Watkins not visiting
Hear anything about Hidago ?

2023 ESPN #12/PN #7  6'1 Courtney OGDEN is a SF/SG in the same mold as Juju WATKINS, and when she committed to Stanford, I pretty much had a hunch that WATKINS will go somewhere else. But we can always hope otherwise...

On the other hand, Stanford still has a great chance of landing 2023 ESPN #5 and top PG 5'6 Hannah HIDALGO, since Stanford has yet to get a commit from a PG in her class, and she knows that the starting Stanford PG role is hers over the next four seasons if she decided on becoming a Cardinal and be the much-needed court general to lead the likes of BRINK, DEMETRE, IRIAFEN, BETTS, NIVAR, OGDEN and AGARA (well, we said the same thing with 2009 #3 overall DIGGINS and 2022 #2 overall Kiki RICE....)

As for WATKINS, well, she would make UCLA, USC and most especially Arizona an instant national contender:

- UCLA already has McD AAs Kiki RICE at PG and JAQUEZ at SF, another top PG in Londynn JONES and a host of  fine foreign-born post players in BESSOIR, DUGALIC, ANSTLEY and SONTAG

- USC already has McD AAs MARSHALL at PF, AKUNWAFO at Center, and GAYLES at SG, plus a 2023 Top 50+ PG recruit in Malia SAMUELS

- As for Arizona, while already stacked with uber talents with McD AAs and Top 10 overall recruits in Maya NNAJI and Breya CUNNINGHAM at Center, 2022 #9 overall in Montaya DEW at PF, McD AA Paris CLARK at SG, most likely McD AA Jada WILLIAMS and USA U18 member GILBERT at PG, WATKINS will be the best of them all and their starting SF.  If that happens, I'll hand over the national championship to Arizona from 2024-2026!

RE: Class of 2023+ - BostonCard - 10-09-2022

Remember that when projecting other schools’ lineups that by the time Juju Watkins, the transfer portal could totally remake the roster, with both outbound and inbound transfers.  Sure, the base case is the roster that is already there, and one wouldn’t hazard a guess that a specific player won’t be there, but the chances that the entire roster is there are probably pretty low.

I think we’ve got a great shot at Hidalgo. She took class photos in a Stanford uniform with the other 2023 recruits who were visiting. Her intention was to announce in November so maybe another visit or two before we find out her choice. I would guess she visits Duke still. I just don’t want Notre Dame to snag another top guard from us. Hidalgo would make up for some of our past recruiting misses.

RE: Class of 2023+ - Jskass - 10-10-2022

If I were Watkins and it truly were down to the three USC, UCLA and Arizona I would choose AZ if UCLA in fact stays w Big 10 decision. It is one thing to be close to home but another to spend every other weekend plus in the Midwest during winter!

Tara brought out Condoleezza and Andrew Luck (who posed for pics with whom I'm guessing were Hannah's brothers).

One advantage for Stanford they had 3 other classmates (+ Blakes also from NJ) Hannah got to bond with, + 3 freshmen she'll overlap with, etc...

...On the other hand—not just on the court—who does Notre Dame have, period? 1 commit, 1 frosh, 2 sophs... Looks pretty lonely at Notre Dame right now!

I'm guessing USC for Watkins with her latest sighting with Shamblin and the USC AD. If so, considering she was on the decline when she left Cal, Gottlieb certainly has had some blue chippers just fall in her lap.

...or Arizona lol...boy that would be like a UConn team if she picked Arizona, and she their Diana Tarausi.

Am i missing something? Blanca Thomas released this list in August and it's already been discussed on this same thread at that time.

RE: Class of 2023+ - Lorcan - 10-10-2022

Nope. I just saw it posted today elsewhere, and assumed that it was a new list before going back and looking at the history. Whoops.
