Bowser with his second bomb of the day. 13-4 score now. There’s supposed to be a 10-run mercy rule after 7 which may save our bullpen arms.
RE: Stanford Baseball -

I wonder if this is a strategy to address our bullpen's issues or if it's just worked out that way : pound the strike zone, let the batter make (hopefully, weak) contact, and let the defense do its job. Seems the bullpen has cut down a lot on the wild pitches, walks, and plunked batters.
Cmon, guys. Just one more run.

Here’s Bowser’s second.

Crampton battles back from an 0-2 count with 2 outs to hit a single and bring home two runners. Oh, and chase the pitcher as well as bring Jones to the plate. What more can one ask from the bottom of the lineup?

Also, Crampton had this play…

Beautiful. I like the bounce pass to first base, too. On time and on target.
Despite my jinx on the relievers, Pancer battles through adversity and even gets the win.

Ballgame. We get tomorrow off.
Some more leather.

4-2 lead B7 and we’ve brought Mathews in after a good outing by Dixon.
We needed this.

A Bowser double and Troy single gave Stanford a much-needed insurance run in the bottom of the 8th.
Mathews scuffled big time in the ninth. With 2 runs in and the runners at 1st & 2nd, Mathews gets a pop up to close out the 5-4 win.
RE: Stanford Baseball -
JJJ - 05-28-2022
It got a little too close for comfort (1 run lead, 2 men on T9) but Mathews gets it done and we move on to the championship game tomorrow. Good thing because I don’t know that we would’ve had the arms for another game today. My MVP vote goes to Crampton for his solid D, unconventional as the thought is.

A nationally televised championship game too!

How hot is this team?? Hopefully the calendar turning to June does not stop this run. My biggest takeaway from today is Dixon has shown enough on the mound to get the start next Friday night. Just like today you can have Mathews ready to go, but getting through game one of the regional without using Williams would be massive!

I think Mathews sometimes gets bored and loses focus. Putting the game on the line is his wake-up call. Plus a visit from Coach Eager.

Agree. And that’s consistent with Esquer’s strategy in the tournament.

UCLA 7 OSU 2 after 2.

That should seal us as a top-8 seed for the tournament, win or lose tomorrow.
I assume we want UCLA to beat OSU and force another game?

UCLA 10, OSU 17, B6. The Beavers have been busy.

Not exactly a pitchers duel. OSU 17 UCLA 10 after 6.
