ND has some issues. For 1, apparently Ivey didn't tell her team the truth about why Assistant Beth Cunningham left. And why no playing time  for top recruits . Ali Campbell has already committed to Penn State - mentioned she wanted a coach who communicates with her players. Go to McGraw's Bench for more

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - mbdude - 03-30-2021

Sasha Goforth , Oregon st, enters transfer portal. Didn't see that coming - neither did OSU probably

Jada Williams, No.13 Prospect in 2023, chooses UCLA Says they have no 2022 commits

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - BobK - 03-30-2021

Right now ucla has no 2021 commits either as their lone commit Darius enrolled in Jan at ucla

Meanwhile, Washington is going to be a complete tear down rebuild. Miller, Van Dyke, and Sadler are in the portal. I guess the bright side for Washington is that with hundreds of players in the portal, it’s basically massive free agency in progress.

they should have -- her name is a dead giveaway

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - TheRicker - 03-30-2021

Sasha got up and went forth.

Why did Cunningham leave?

Why did Cunningham leave?

apparently she left because ivey canned her when she took over. but the dissatisfaction seems to be about the way ivey handled it, not about ivey's right to bring in her own assistants.

this is all i can find. nd board members complaining that the new coach made no public statement thanking Cunningham for her service as assistant coach and for her achievements as a player (2nd all time in scoring after skylar diggins) and wishing her well in future endeavors. cunningham has since taken a comparable job as an assistant to kara lawson at duke.

does remind me that, even though jj hones broke rules, i wished tara had publicly thanked jj for her contributions and wished her well when tara dismissed jj.

Great story on an incoming recruit

Didn't want to create a new thread for this, but Carrington is, unsurprisingly, declaring for the WNBA draft:

Good luck to her!  I feel bad that the math didn't work out for her coming back this year.

Unorthodox idea but I wonder if Tara would consider redshirting Kiki her freshman year. With a heavy rotation of front court players, and considering she is still fairly new to basketball, it may actually work in her/the team’s favor. Since we missed out on Timea, she could fill that spot for the incoming ‘22 recruits and eventually have more of a chance to see the court time after developing/graduation.

I had not paid attention to her, or Baylor, much this year. But every time I saw a box score she was coming off the bench. But had a bunch of minutes and often led in scoring. What is the deal with that?

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - Jskass - 04-02-2021

I assumed that her coming off the bench was because she is only there for one year so they didn't want to disrupt chemistry of other 4 year starters but maybe also because of the CoVid impact forcing her out for other games or even just that with her leg she can't play the whole game? Not to mention the burst of energy when she enters the game?

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - BobK - 04-02-2021

Stanford enddd last year and started this year with 14 on scholarship Allowed 15. So math says room for Carrington

But Carrington had made her decision before we knew we would have room for her, no?  My memory may be fading, but I thought at one point it was looking like it was going to be a choice between Carrington and Wilson, and Tara had already started along the path of getting Wilson an extra year.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - BobK - 04-02-2021

I don’t remember what Stanford knew that Wilson was approved but it was after the season started so Carrington knew an opening then and maybe not well known but Wilson Was initially declined
When we knew isn’t as important as when Carrington knew Moschkau was graduating. Certainly that was well before it was public

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - CompSci87 - 04-03-2021

Bad news for Stanford on Londynn Jones.

But maybe some nice family pressure for another recruit:

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - bl82 - 04-07-2021

Other than the nice victory dance by Susan Rice, does anyone have any inside scoop or even hunches about how Kiki Rice's recruitment will play out? She could be a critical piece in terms of determining how far the Brink-Betts lineup will go. Heck, I'll even take informed speculation or hunches.
