There’s many injustices in the world
Putting Stanford MBB on national TV with WBB not (or not often) is a small one
But is one

Tough to beat a team that hits 50% of their ~30 3-pointers

Possible new cheer for next home game:
We’re Not As Bad As Cal!

RE: MBB Thread (11-14, 5-9) - PVTree - 02-18-2023

As we head into senior night, we are close to potentially seeing the last games at Maples for:

-SJones
-MJones
-Keefe
-Ingram

We have returning:
-O'Connell
-Silva
-Murrell
-Raynaud
-Angel
-Moss
-Thompson
-Agarwal

Incoming frosh:
-Stoja
-Carlyle

If all 4 on the first list leave, we will only have 10 scholarship players (not counting walk-ons who may get a scholie due to them being available).

Ingram has eligibility left, of course. Keefe and SJones have their Covid year, but not sure if MJones has a Covid year option.

Besides Ingram, should Haase (or a new coach) try to retain any of the other 3? Personally, if possible, I'd like to see the Jones brothers and Ingram return to fill out the roster.

As an aside, I recall that players can play in a few games and retain their redshirt. Is Thompson near being able to play the remaining games?

M. Jones is in his fourth year and has a covid year left.

I don't expect any of the other 4th-year guys to come back, though.  Our history of getting MBB players into grad programs is even worse than our history of attracting transfers.

And given the possible coaching change coming and the fact that transfers can play immediately, I won't be surprised if we get quite a bit more attrition.

Keefe is returning for a 5th year, and M Jones is in the first year of a 2-year master's program. Also, where's Ingram going? He's not getting drafted, but a transfer is possible I guess.

Stick a fork in this team. Clinched another season without a winning conference record and likely a losing record overall too.

Really the only question remaining is which day will be Haase's last? I'll go for Thursday 3/9 after losing their first round game in the conference tournament.

RE: MBB Thread (11-14, 5-9) - PVTree - 02-19-2023

(Not necessarily my preference)...I will go with Hasse retained for another year after the team showed improvement at the end, the team seems to be united (no mutiny against the coach), and 2 top recruits coming in. Enough for Bernie to think, the last guy got 8 years, so should this guy.

Yup, they showed flashes of great defensive intensity.
Like OSU, CAL games mid season, and the AZ win a big one.
But so many lapses and stumbles in between.
Looking at yet another Pac 12 finish just a couple games above the total cellar.
As to Haase's last, I'll guess 3/13 just to guess the politeness and delay of Muir to match the politeness and delay of our usual Defense (like allowing USC to surge to 85, the highest score of all 10 Pac 12 teams that played yesterday)

Muir didn't wait on canning Dawkins (unless you count the 3 years after he should have fired him). Like Dawkins, it's not like anyone is going to be surprised. No need to prolong it even one day just rip off the bandaid and move forward.

We are playing WSU right now at home.  It's a tight game in the first half.

We trail by 2 at the half.  Winnable game here.

I dunno.  It wasn't a bad game.  We had a shot to win it, but couldn't get points when we needed them.

RE: MBB Thread (11-17, 5-12) - BostonCard - 02-23-2023

Washington state has a losing record; we played at home. ”not a bad game” is not really good enough.

I was at Maples tonight. Winnable game. Bamba and Gueye doomed us. Cougs hit nearly 50% of their threes.
