RE: Class of 2022 - TrumpCard - 07-31-2021

No recent traffic in this thread so I thought I’d link a tweet from last month that might prove to be meaningful if Shaw can land Ernest Cooper. Not every football recruit wants to research reptiles and amphibians, and I’m guessing Stanford’s Hopkins center would be a draw. I hope Cooper would be able to figure out a way to do a Summer there.

Copper warmer on 247 for both Stanford abd Texas A&M. However both CBS for Texas A&M

OL recruiting wraps up quite nicely. Heck of a job by coach Heff to hit the ground running.

this makes 4 offensive line commits.  so far, so good.

RE: Class of 2022 - Phogge - 07-31-2021

Going with 5 LB's and six DB's in 2023.

That would be why we signed 3 DL in the 2021 cycle (2 years too late).

The recruiting class is shaping up just fine on offense. The QB situation is what it is, but overall pretty good talent. The defensive side of the ball needs some top end talent badly. Bailey and Ramsey are keys. And even though the 2021 class had really good DLs, this class needs more than 0 DLs and may need some magic.

Well that was quick, wasn't it?

I suspect we are taking 2-3.

I don't think this means anything. All of our offered players (that we are still recruiting/in the mix for at all) have gotten these.

RE: Class of 2022 - BostonCard - 08-01-2021

Yeah, after I posted, I saw that a bunch of others were posting their official offers, even those who have already verballed.

Apparently today was the first day that recruits could receive official offers, which explains why so many have been posting them.

The Caughfey commitment helps fill a position of need and he did have several other offers, so the commitment is welcome.

I note that he reported his offer today as well as his commitment. Offers at this stage tend to be the result of attrition thought I don’t know of anyone.

Joe Strickland committing to Purdue. Another bad beat on an admitted recruit. Although "bad beat" when his primary factor was closeness to home (and seems to be more so for some kids due to Covid) might be a stretch.

RE: Class of 2022 - TrumpCard - 08-02-2021

Ah, thanks, that makes sense. Literally any of the remaining DL offers would be a very useful addition to the class, but it’s unclear whether Stanford is leading for any of them. 247 has Vakalahi, Rowell, and Cooper as being at least “warm” on Stanford, but no crystal balls coming Stanford’s way so far. Close to home might end up being a theme, which I understand, but that always surprises me when we’re talking about big tough linemen.

247's temperatures mean next to nothing.

RE: Class of 2022 - BobK - 08-02-2021

Disagree on 247. They are the ones doing the most interviewing.

Yeah, but I agree with Sam, the temperatures are useless.  Crystal balls are more useful, but I've seen them fail spectacularly, so take with a grain of salt.

So can the latest play or is he a roster filler?
