Kiki Rice's final five hints that she values academics (Duke) and is very willing to come west (Arizona).
Another of her choices, closest-by UConn, has Paige Bueckers with three more years at the point and Azzi Fudd able to take over the spot or take the other guard spot. At Stanford, by contrast, Rice would be an immediate candidate to start, with only Jana Van G standing in the way.
She knows Stanford commit Lauren Betts very well, having teamed up with her on the USA U18 team, and may be a friend of Stanford OL Walter Rouse, a Sidwell Friends grad/
If we are not a near sure thing in this Kiki Rice sweepstakes, it's for reasons not obvious to me.

I presume Bueckers would not stay a fifth year, so she might only overlap with Rice for two years.

Can I ask where you saw a final five? On instagram and twitter she has her final 11 still up.

We should keep in mind Briggs plays for a small private HS. In a playoff game now more than a year ago she was 4 of 28.
But she was a Frosh and I love her play

Charisma Osborne was on her team at Windward. We don't know why Charisma did not come to Stanford--it could be a lot of reasons. But that hasn't stopped me from wondering. Having a coach with Stanford connections doesn't make it a sure thing, obviously.

That's hardly likely. Nygaard is a big Tara and Stanford fan and understands how hard it is to get in.

This makes all kinds of assumptions. We do not know that Stanford "declined" Osborne. We do not know if she applied or not. We do not know if she was admitted. We do not know how she ultimately decided on her school of choice. We know nothing about her interactions with the Stanford staff or program. I don't understand why you say things like Stanford picked Jump over Osborne or declined Osborne. It seems unfair to both Stanford and Osborne, who may simply have liked UCLA better. Maybe she likes LA. Maybe it was closer to home. Maybe she thought their style would suit her better. Maybe she did not want to play behind Williams for two years. Maybe she just really digs Cori Close and the "passion play" concept. If you know any of those things, please fill the rest of us in.

jacob on tos explained in some detail how stanford did not leave room for osborne. to repeat what has been stated by many, osborne was still talking publicly about her interest in stanford when we chose prechtel as our 4th recruit. sure, it's possible jacob was wrong; but he's usually credible.

With no inside information other than looking at social media accounts likes (IG, twitter), I can't help but wonder if Kiki Rice is a
Duke lean at this point. Yesterday, she liked on twitter and instagram posts about Celeste Taylor joining the Duke program and also liked an IG post from the Duke WBB account regarding the sisterhood of the program. Meanwhile all the amazing moments the Stanford WBB team has posted to social media the last few weeks, Kiki Rice didn't like a single one. Not even the video with Susan Rice dancing.
Instagram is big among high schoolers and can be revealing. Timea Gardiner also started noticeably liking a lot of Oregon State posts leading up her decision making her announcement unsurprising to anyone who was actually paying attention. At this point, I'd bet money on Kiki Rice to Duke. Hope I'm wrong.

I am on that board and have never seen anything like that. Someone I know well is very, very tuned in to recruiting and likewise has never seen anything like that. I may ask Jake. So you first maintained that Stanford took Jump over Osborne and now it is Pretchtel?? But of our recruits that year, Jones was last to commit in November. I just do not think we know, or Jake knows, and absent real evidence making assumptions is kinda not a great idea. The other point is that even if Stanford decided they needed a different recruit for whatever reason, there is nothing bad or nefarious about that. Coaches do that all the time. Not everyone who wants to go to a certain school will get a scholarship offer. So even if the "declined" Osborne thing is real, there is nothing underhanded, bad, unusual, etc. about it.

It was also noted on this thread at one time that Kiki Rice followed all of the Stanford women's players on instagram. She has since
UNFOLLOWED: Kianna Williams, Anna Wilson, Lexi Hull, Lacie Hull, Jenna Brown, Ashten Prechtel, Jana and Agnes. Why would a recruit unfollow/unfriend members of the team/program that she intends to sign with and play for? Again, social media can be very telling. I don't like our chances.
If we strike out on Kiki Rice, what PG do we have a realistic chance to sign? Could this end up being a 2 or 3 person class? We've struck out on a few targets already. However, we need a couple more recruits to compliment Betts.
