After Louisville's collapse late against Miami, Walz accepted all of the blame: "I'm not going to put the blame on these kids," Walz added. "It's my fault... As a coach I learned a valuable lesson there today."
Meanwhile, in the waning moments of the LSU vs. Kentucky game, Mulkey gets a technical and charges on the court (her own players and coaches had to hold her back) when a foul didn't get called that she wanted
Walz appears to be a class act. He gives credit when deserved and takes blame when it's the right thing to do. In a way, reminds me of his comment in the elite game ladt year when he was asked what happened when they lost to Stanford and he gave a succinct answer: Ashton Prechtel happened. It was the correct answer, as well as a generous one.

Miami just took down Notre Dame -- has beat the 2 and 3 ACC seeds, will play NC State in the finals.

Lots of conference finals today plus a few other games. Every game involving a top 25 team except one is on an ESPN channel. The exception, UConn vs Marquette (Big East semi). ESPN must be feeling very frustrated!

Now the Card really needs to take down Utah, can be the #1 #1

Either poor coaching or poor response by SC players. They had 2 fouls to give with 11 seconds left. Instead, they let UK run a play.

No ESPN will claim that uconn is #1, they have been brainwashed to that point.

I watched the beginning of this game and South Carolina seemed to have things well in hand. Kentucky is a very physical team. WBB is starting to drift toward thug ball as opposed to skill ball. Back when I played for my high school team if the defensive player so much as touched the player handling the ball it was called a foul.

Kind of wish this hadn't happened - I don't think being the overall #1 seed would help us, and probably hurts us. And I think SCAR benefits from this wake-up call going into the Tournament, which probably increases their likelihood of winning the whole thing. They've been coasting for a while and in the same way I think our collapse vs. South Carolina in December helped us in the long term, I think this will help them.
But for now, definitely relishing their loss and looking forward to hearing it's the result of the SEC tournament not using Dawn's preferred brand of basketball...

Iowa-Indiana is a good one. Indiana trying to win the Big 10 tournament as the 5 seed, playing the 2 seed in the final. No one has ever won 4 games in 4 days in their tournament. It's very close in mid 3rd quarter.

Also, SC's loss might shuffle the seeds so that UConn ends up on our side of the bracke.

In the Pac12 Championship broadcast, they said SC is still a solid #1 on various metrics plus the head to head W. (Per Charlie Creme)

I think that’s about right. Without the head-to-head loss, we might have a claim to a higher seed, but SC will finish the season with at least one fewer loss and a head to head win, and played in a good conference.

I think we need to win today before worrying about the top seed

I think the committee will place UConn as the 2nd seed in the Regional of the weakest Regional #1 seed which is the #4 overall seed, which would be the Wichita Regional with either Baylor (if they win the Big 12 tourney) or Louisville as the Regional # 1 seed. That way, they appease everybody in the WCBB world except UConn, hahaha...

Was going to say something like that. Fortunately, we did win, so we can now argue back and forth over the relatively trivial question of whether we deserve to be the overall #1 or #2.

I started a different thread for that argument. That thread can continue through selection Sunday.

It seems almost all the recent bracketology has UConn as a 2 in the South Carolina regional. We will likely stay as the number 2 overall and wouldn’t meet either team until the national championship. I’m not scared of Louisville or NCState in a final 4 game.
