This may have been a little joke at Oklahoma's expense. Oklahoma is building a new softball stadium that more than doubles capacity. The new stadium for OU softball will cost $27 million.
Ah, that makes more sense! Thanks.

I think you mean the Big 10 POY.
Indiana Hoosiers softball freshman Taryn Kern enters transfer portal (usatoday.com)

Big 10 with soon 16 yes thanks Indiana

RE: Stanford Softball 2022-2023 - Softball Fan - 06-06-2023

With all the publicity surrounding Canady and Vawter returning Stanford softball would be appealing to big sticks looking for an NC.  However the ship has sailed for 2023/2024 school year, right?  2023/2024 classes start in three months.  Any possible transfers to Stanford would be for 2024/2025 year.

Mitty is a good high school so that's a positive academically.  Any info her grades at Indiana are what Stanford would be looking for?

Never said I could spell, type or read.

RE: Stanford Softball 2022-2023 - BobK - 06-06-2023

Actually we have a potential football transfer who just visited and we have had some not many for sure, accepted during the summer. But yes a long shot
Kern was an honor roll student all four years at Mitty

RE: Stanford Softball 2022-2023 - Softball Fan - 06-06-2023

Things sure have changed since I was a volunteer essay reader in admissions.  Back in the day there was no way a student could apply and be accepted the summer before classes start.  Maybe if Bill Gates promised to donate $100million for a building he could get his kid admitted under short notice but I never heard of it.

It’s a new world. More open to athletic transfers. Of course probably still the same for grad transfers.

I wonder what is wrong at Indiana. Indiana makes the tournament for the first time in 30 years, Kern hops in the portal followed by at least one other.  Is Kern looking NIL money, not happy due to lack of other talent or what?  Is player 2 in the portal because she figures if Kern leaves it will be another 30 years?  The portal is creating another set of one and done's.

Another question - here is a quote from article on Alyssa Houston, an incoming player for next year, pitcher and third base. Where will she be used?

"At the plate, Houston batted .407 with an .804 slugging percentage, 34 runs batted in, 26 runs scored, and 11 home runs. She was almost unhittable when in the circle, posting a perfect 14-0 record with an incredible 0.49 earned run average while striking out 175 batters holding them to a .079 batting average against in 85.1 innings pitched."

She can play third when Canady is pitching. If I had to pick one, she pitches.

Oklahoma beat Florida State 5-0 in Game 1 of the Championship Series (and the Seminoles had to make a spectacular catch in the outfield in the sixth inning to avoid a run-rule).

FSU managed 2 hits against Jordy Bahl. Bahl is a fantastic pitcher, and I think Florida State's performance tonight highlights what Coach Allister said about our two games against OU: "That could have been a Championship Series" in terms of our performance against the greatest softball team of all-time (they would have the best overall record of all time, and the softball landscape is a lot more competitive than in prior eras that were dominated by Arizona and UCLA) if they win this series and their third straight championship.

Sounds like a cult to me.

RE: Stanford Softball 2022-2023 - Jskass - 06-08-2023

agree:
1. OK showing that we probably are the second best team in the country
2. OK showing itself to be an odd cultish team and hope that video further contributes to parity as I'm sure there are lots of kids who will be repelled.

Interesting take. Are you thinking the same about Rose Zhang and Stanford Women’s Golf?

I hope not…

big difference between an individual and a team/group view.
