Stanford has lost the first two games of the series. In both games they fell behind by many runs and late rallies fell short. The third and final game is in progress, with Stanford already down 5-3 and trying to rally in the second inning. All 5 WF runs were charged to Parker Warner, who only recorded one out before being replaced. Ouch.

I missed all the action until a couple of innings ago. Stanford gave up a granny in a tie ball game, but has come back with long balls from Tokheim and Jeon. Now down 8-9, heading into B5.

Bump to remind everyone who wants to be reminded that Stanford baseball (#182 RPI) starts an 8-game homestand versus Nevada (#43) tonight (Wednesday). Stanford hosts Pitt (#100) x 3 this weekend and Utah Valley (#272) x 4 next weekend.
Time to end that 6-game losing streak and turn the frown upside-down!

Don't have to look far to see an improvement opportunity that could really make a difference. Starting pitcher ERAs - 6.23, 6.86, 7.20, 8.25. Starting pitcher WHIPs - 1.9, 1.73, 1.7, 1.92. Cumulative record - 0-6.

Wow, that's brutal! Is this about NIL spending? Why have we fallen off so drastically? Was it Wake that doubled down on a pitching bio-mechanics lab? We should be leading the charge in this area....What does Esquer need?

Tuned in to see the aftermath of a sequence where Bates made a nice play at SS to get the runner at 1B on a bang-bang play, but Sasaki threw home for the “fourth out” which was fortuitous because they reversed the call at first!?! We’re hanging on to a lead 8-7 heading into T7 with our fifth(?) pitcher.
(And the male announcer is brutal with his “facts” about Sasaki and pronunciation of anything Japanese-related, thoroughly getting under my skin. That’s solely my problem.)
I was wrong. Same announcer keeps saying “Nantai” (rhyming with Manti) for “Nati”

Thanks Bob, I'm very sorry to hear this. Sounds like we need the NIL war chest and some solid coaching for our pitchers. If the Georgia coach was able to make the mechanics adjustments (arm slot plus...) to get these results early on, well, then something sounds amiss at Sunken.

Stanford finally snaps its losing streak (6 games!) to beat Nevada 13-8. Nati 3 for 4, 2 HR, 5 RBI.

I don't know how good Georgia is at coaching, but they are very good at scheduling pre-conference powder puffs. Here is who and where the 15-3 Bulldogs have played so far:
Wright State (currently 5-9, #31 RPI) x 3, home, won 2, lost 1
USC Upstate (8-10, #65) x 1, home, win
Samford (6-9, #186) x 3, home, won 3

Georgia opens SEC play vs Tennessee this weekend (at home, of course). In any case, 18 of Georgia's next 23 games are against conference opponents, so we'll get a better idea by then just how much Scott and Volchko have improved.
Nice revenge win for Stanford tonight against Nevada!

Stanford baseball now has a 2-game winning streak, although they had yet another difficult time closing out a game in the 9th inning. Up 9-4, Stanford P Mike Erspamer gave up a walk and a single. Closer Colt Petersson came in and promptly gave up a 3-run HR. Fortunately, CP settled down and retired the next three Pitt batters.
Stanford has given up 7 or more runs in the last 8 games. Put another way here are the ERAs of Stanford's starting pitchers in our first 17 games:
Dugan, Nick 6.20 ERA, 5 starts
Keenan, Aidan 6.23, 4
Ketelsen, Brock 6.35, 3
Warner, Parker 8.25, 4
Gomez, Cohen 9.26, 1
On the bright side, Jimmy Nati has been swinging the bat like we knew he could, so Stanford has a better chance of winning a few more high-scoring games.

Aidan Keenan gets the mound in game 2 vs Pitt. Walks leadoff, caught stealing, walks 2nd hitter, strikes out Carrier (“hottest hitter in ACC”) on 3 pitches, walks the cleanup, strikes out the fifth hitter. Not sure how many innings he will last, but we’re tied going into B1. :)
