I've been surprised by many of the lines this year. The punters seem to have a higher opinion of our basketball team than we do, or than seems to be warranted most of the time.

Yes, punters, as well as kickers, can be so quirky. I'm guessing that quarterbacks and linemen are more analytical and don't have as high an opinion of our team.
I clearly read too much British English.

Any thoughts on the Detroit Mercy guy, Antoine Davis, about to break Pete Maravich's all-time scoring record? He's 25 points away from tying it with a conference quarterfinal game on Thursday against top seed Youngstown State. He got 38 points today.
Davis has done it in 5 years while Pete did it in 3. I'm leaning towards him not getting there since it's a big discrepancy in games played. I'm sure he's going to go out shooting, not caring that his team loses, as expected.

When I was in Navy Supply Corps School in Athens I went to a LSU Georgia game to see Pete play. He didn't disappoint. Among his other feats he sunk a half court shot. Someone asked him after the game if he practiced that shot. His response "Sure, I practice all my shots."

Good 1st half, up by 6 and should have been nine sans boneheaded play at the end.
Start second strong and now up by 11.
Spencer in good form
With 15 in the 1st half
Reynaud coming to his own

Detroit Mercy lost so their season is over. Davis scored 22 points. He needed 25 to tie Maravich. He ends up 3 points short of the all-time scoring record .

Stanford had an impressive 23 assists tonight and shot 59% and 57%.
Hasse has really turned this program around.

Just got done watching on DVR.
Observed radio silence until now.
If only the team had played like this from earlier in the season…a comfortable win in spite of many unforced errors and brain cramps.
What if we actually win a few in the Pac-12 tourney? A fellow alum recently told me he was randomly paired with Haase and son at the golf course. Sweetest guy ever, he said.

I'm not surprised to hear that this guy said Haase was a wonderful guy. By all other indications he is indeed. Unfortunately, he just hasn't delivered enough "Ws." Hopefully, Muir will send him on his merry way. And, I sincerely wish the best for the guy.

Yes, If Only.
If Only Christie Brinkley took me up on that dinner date invitation...
Yes, our guys played great.
But also note the competition, who they played.
A struggling team.
Not that every team in Pac-12 doesn't have the potential to have a great night once in awhile, witness Cal pasting us for 92 pts earlier in the season.
If our guys seriously got it together now, there's ample opportunity to show it up in Eugene tomorrow against a much better foe,
and then again in the tournament.

Those "many unforced errors and brain cramps" are continual hallmarks of Haaseketball. Teams with an actual pulse (which fortunately Oregon State is not) take advantage of these and go on mini-scoring runs that usually end up being what wins them the game.

Spencer Jones with three quick threes.

Spencer playing as if he only has 2 games left in a Stanford uniform. We're in the game, and, if we can cut down on the turnovers, we can win this game.

With 5 seconds left and down 4 with 1 free throw left, why wouldn't you try to make the free throw, try to steal the inbounds pass and make a three.
Seems higher probability than rebounding a brick, getting a 2 and then stealing for another 2...in 5 seconds.

Dante was the difference today. Hard to stop him offensively and had a lot of brinks against us. Our poor FT shooting also contributed to our loss.

Regular season games remaining in Haase's Stanford career: hopefully 0.
We finish 10th in the Pac-12 (we could technically tie Colorado for 9th but they have the tiebreaker). IIRC, we were picked for 5th.
That said, I'll be rooting for a win or two in the P-10 Tourney so that the players can end the year on an up note.

If CJH can go on a 10-game winning streak, he'll be able to retain his job. One game at a time now.

Agree, Dante was the difference today.
Really good game by Stanford in a tough environment though.
The last 12 or so games have been the team we expected. That performance throughout should have us as a borderline tournament team, but sadly wasn’t to be.
One game at a time now someone else said.
