Thanks Stanley Kubrick.

I noticed that Sione Lund has entered the transfer portal. Any possibility he could move to Stanford? He has been admitted once before. And he plays ILB, a position of great need (although he could not crack the starting lineup at Utah).

No.

Sam F -- on the admitted recruits going elsewhere, it is not only the number (8); it is also the quality (3-stars) and the destination (to not top football schools).
good start on the '22 class. it would be great to get a verbal from a QB or similarly prominent player who could serve as recruiting ala SSkov or the Mayor years ago.

I wonder how many went elsewhere because they wanted (or their parents wanted them) to stay close to home and far from the Covid hotbed in Santa Clara county. Of course we all hope that won't matter anymore by fall 2021, but the uncertainty still could be a factor in decisions.

Who cares? He’s a Duck. Knock him on his azz next year, reach down and pick him up and say, “Great going on your grades, you however made the wrong decision.”

Yes, a couple more PWO offers went out tonight. DL Katona, DL Aristotle Taylor (who is 6'8"!), and DB Zak Sedaros.
EDITING to say I have no idea whether more scholarship offers will go out for this class. I think we're licking our wounds and moving on. '22 is starting off way better, but we need a serious bounce-back. And 4 LBs.

The late signing period is less than four weeks away. I noticed that Austin Uke has not signed with anyone. Does anyone know if Stanford is still in play for Uke?

Yep

Thanks, SamuelMcF. FWIW, it looks like Uke has Power 5 offers from Stanford, Georgia Tech, Penn State, USC, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Maryland, Missouri, Northwestern, TCU, Texas and Virginia Tech. It's nice to hear that we are at least in the running.

3-star OL Austin Uke has a new final five, and Stanford is in it along with Oklahoma, Texas, Northwestern and Penn State.

Unfortunately, I'm putting my money on the new crew at Texas.

I, too, thought that Texas would be the leader, especially given that Uke is from Dallas and Sarkisian is a solid recruiter. No expert predictions on 247sports or Rivals are (yet) pointing in that direction, however.
There's also the issue of admissions, although I don't think Uke would list us in his top 5 at such a late date--signing day is two weeks from today--if that were an issue? Not sure if he has visited campus, either.

FWIW- In his press conference today, Shaw mentioned that there could be additional roster additions from Texas before the start of the season. I don't think he would have mentioned that if Uke is an admissions casualty.

Interesting PWO candidate. Only has played football for a few months and unlike Miezan, he wasn't an athlete in another sport. He was a champion video gamer. Based on his body transformation in the last few months (see bottom link), he appears to have the physical tools.

Welcome to the New Age of college football. Nobody gets a concussion during video contests.

Closing speed on that first play in the video was something.
He needs to continue that body transformation; even at 235 he's got a lot of mass to add to be a DE. I would say that the upshot would be Thomas Schaffer.

Vanderbilt offered a scholarship to our PWO DE candidate Aristotle Taylor. I wonder if we will do the same. He is looking to sign this week.

That is his second D1 scholarship offer after Eastern Michigan. Vandy is barely an FBS program right now and in a full-blown rebuild with desperate need of warm bodies. We signed 3 scholarship DL in this class; signing a 4th (who has played more competitive video games than actual football in his life) won't move the needle and in fact probably screws up the scholarship distribution in following classes knowing our staff. Would way rather target 2-3 in 2022 than have Taylor and only target 1. Good luck to him at Vandy.
