Brooke Demetre scored 31 as Mater Dei downed Cathedral Catholic. Uconn recruit Ice Brady scored 14.
Demetre was 11/19 from the field, 4-6 on 3 pointers. I'm really looking forward to seeing her in a Stanford uniform. 6'3 and and prolific from outside the arc. She's so versatile for her size. Will she be Kayla Pedersen like in how Stanford utilizes her? Will she start as a freshman? She's deserving of a top 5 ranking in her class IMO.

brink, prechtel, belibi, demetre, iriafen and maybe a returning jerome. that's quite a roster of talented bigs - especially since haley jones often plays the 4.

I see one of her teammates is a Lindy LaRocque recruit.

I was just asking someone if they thought Ali was the secret sauce to this year's team being relatively injury-free.

I'm sure they did help. I think might also be a bit of the season being 7 or 8 games shorter (only 3 non-conference vs 11 or 12 usually) and perhaps even the long COVID road trip that hurt in some ways like limiting practices and whatever work players might have done on their own had they been able to get into Maples, but also maybe saved them from some wear and tear. Tara said that there are some things from this past crazy season they might considering doing in the future. We've had some good S & C coaches so I have faith they will find someone really good.

Since we are adding potential 2024 recruits, could we add Shay Ijiwoye a 5'6" point guard from Phoenix, AZ?
She seems like a top recruit in the class of 2024. Kate Paye follows her on twitter and she follow Kate Paye. She has an offer from Yale. And someone on the Cal board suggested Stanford was involved.

She reminds me of McDonald from AZ. Nice game.

Any interest shown in Elle Ladine from Pinewood, 2022 4star
Ladine is about as fundamentally sound as a player can get. She is a big guard with a broad frame who can shoot it from all over, pass the ball, see the floor very well and can handle it well enough to get to her spots.
She decision-making, efficiency and leadership abilities make her a strong point guard who, in turn, can make her teammates better. She has a skill set reminiscent of Oregon State's Aleah Goodman.
Many schools from the Pac-12 are pursuing her.

She transferred from a SF HS for this year. In the maybe early 70s Kirk Ladine was a great SJ area HS player so the name caught my eye. Kirk then played, not much, at Stanford.

Guessing excellent student if she previously attended Lowell HS in SF!

Ah, the good old days, when one could assume this about someone who went to Lowell. If the rescent SF School Board decision prevails, Lowell will no longer be the same place, with admission by lottery open to everyone instead of admission based on actual academic qualifications.

They are re thinking the lottery.

And I have my fingers crossed on that. One reason for the rethink is a lawsuit by Lowell alums, and maybe they also heard the screams of protest from so many SF residents, including me.

Any news on players or recruits being invited to the U19 team tryouts?
There is a social media post saying Lauren Betts was invited. And a newspaper article saying Brooke Demetre was invited.
I believe Cameron Brink should be age eligible. Would be surprised if she wasn't invited but have no confirmation either way.
