I think the argument is that Esquer doesn’t consider Pancer to be a top bullpen arm at the moment. He was also the only borderline “top arm” that Esquer used in the Oregon game which led me to this conclusion.

Indeed. My guess is that our first guy out of the bullpen tomorrow - assuming it's a close game - will be Dowd. Then, to Bruno in the 9th assuming it's still a close one.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the SEC getting eight regional sites, and the poetic justice of the #4 seed Penn beating the #1 seed. Also, the first NCAA baseball win for Penn in 32 years.

Jake Sapien was hit in the head by a pitch. He got up on his own, but was removed from the game. Hope this was just a cautionary decision.

Bringing my forecast accuracy to slightly under 50%. For an economist, that’s pretty good.

Jake is likely to be out for a while. Later today (maybe Monday), I’ll post itthe game on Youtube. Bottom of the third is fun right up to the point where he got hit. It’s not pretty. Roxy and Wes speculated that the pitch hit the bill of his helmet which angled down into his cheekbone. Prayers up.

Not at the game tonight because I avoid driving after dark. Tomorrow? Would not miss it for anything.

This team just doesn't have shut down relievers outside of maybe Bruno. Dowd's ERA attests to this.

Some bad karma, too. Two out of the last three days, my wife walks in just as we give up two runs. The first was softball against OK, now tonight. Literally, first batter each time; first pitch against OK, at least it took a couple of pitches tonight. . . .
