A friendly, “I told you so” is about as far as I go re: gambling. Last year, Lex received a “well done” for calling the number (within one). This year, I would love to post a salute to your foresight….
Aaron Judge has one home run this spring. Conforto has three in three games.
Desclefani threw three shutout innings with one hit against (literally) an MLB All-Star team. Rodon has a left forearm strain, is on the shelf and won't face the Giants.

Hope Rodon is ok. He claims he had this last May and pitched through it.
An auspicious start to a six year, $162 mms. contract. Yanks should get two good years out of him, at least. He had a great year for the White Sox in 2021 (13-5) and a really good year for the Giants (14-8). Prior to those two seasons, he was 29-33 between 2015, and just like me, he is no longer in his 20s. Still, I wish we'd kept him. But now, he plays for the other team. I hope both he and Judge fail miserably, though likely they will have really strong years.

I’m pulling for Judge to have a big year. He appears to be a good guy who chose a legacy path and left money on the table. Having your monument with all the other Yankee legends is a brobdingnagian incentive to wear the pinstripes.

Tristin Beck pitched 2.2 innings vs the A's today. Left at that point after taking a low line drive off his ankle, maybe achilles. One hit, one walk, one strikeout. Hit 97 mph and very sharp breaking curve. Hit was a Texas leaguer, iirc.

I hope so. I'd like to see Slater, Beck and Piscotty all on the SFG roster at the same time. Like having the Alou brothers in the same outfield.
Conforto hit his 4th home run today. Judge still on one home run (but he's batting .462, so...). Giants had four home runs today in an 11-9 win over San Diego, including Estrada, Wynns and Schmitt. Schmitt is putting together an amazing spring, which is good because Davis and Villar have zero home runs and 10 and 8 strikeouts respectively. Crawford is 1 for 11, and is being shelved, bad knee. I have a feeling Schmitt will be on the opening day roster, at least I hope he is.
Some of the outfielders (Haniger) are hurt. Sabol, who plays catcher on TV, can also play in the outfield. He might be the fifth outfielder on the opening day roster.
And speaking of catchers, Joey Bart has one strikeout and one walk in 13 official ABs with four hits (two doubles and an HR) and an OPS of 1.049. Estrada is 4 for 18 (.222) but all four hits are for extra bases, two doubles, a triple and an HR. Piscotty hitting .333, .391 OBP, 7 hits, three doubles. Maybe/could be make the big league roster.
Pitchers: Desclafani, Hjelle, Ta. Rogers, Doval, Webb, Beck, have ERAs under 4.00. Harrison, Szapucki (neuropathy), Brebbia, Long, Wood, Cobb, Stripling all have ERAs over 6.00.

Per Andrew Baggerly at The Athletic — Crawford is out with knee soreness. There is speculation that Craw may be put on the “2021 Posey plan” this year - play two games followed by a day off - that would result in about 110 games. His primary backup is Estrada with Schmitt a possibility later in the season (he is expected to start the season at Sacramento). Estrada at SS would probably mean Wisely at 2b.

These are my predictions, not my desires. I’d have Davis in lineup every day. And I’d try to move Wade. Although I can’t imagine they’d get much.

Using my last observation…
Grant Brisbee at The Athletic is suggesting:
Wisely in, Piscotty out
Hjelle in, DeSclafani out (IL)
My thoughts on these suggestions:
The 40 man roster will influence the decision-making process.
Currently, there are 39 players on the 40 man (Gonzalez will be moved to the 60 Day IL following his back surgery tomorrow).
That leaves one open spot (Perez?).
Next up: Sabol. If SF does not place him on the 40 man, he must be placed on waivers. If he is not picked up by another team, he must then be offered back to Pittsburgh. Since the Giants don’t want to lose him, look for him to be added to the 40 man at the expense of someone else.
That puts Piscotty in a tough situation. Do the Giants want to cut a second man from the 40 man? Is there another player who could be put on the 60 Day IL?
Putting DeSclafani on the IL gives him more time to recover from his ankle surgery. Since the Giants have multiple SP options, that should not be an issue.
Lastly, Wisely is the “Crawford insurance policy”.

Be shocked if Perez is not on the roster. They need a veteran catcher.
I think Sabol will be on the team. Heck, he may be in lineup, either in LF or DH (Pederson in left) Opening Day.
Problem Piscotty has if if he is brought on the 40 and to the roster, they can’t send him down without opening him to waivers. Tough to open a spot on 40 for a potential short timer.
Jackson is likely to go on the 60. He won’t be ready till late May/early June. Szarpucki is another 60 candidate. He has an arm issue. Forearm I think. Neuropathy.
Three potential slots.
Brisbees idea on DeSclafani starting on IL makes some sense. They don’t need a 5th starter till game 9. Which is 11 days in. So, he can sit the 10, work on the side and get activated to start or piggy back that game.
Also, Giants signed Romo to minor league deal. He will wear the uniform and go to the mound in Bay Bridge series. Then retire. Very cool. He has the heart of a lion. A Forever Giant.
They should have a Core Four Day. Romo, Affeldt, Lopez, Casilla. A big part of the run.

Add Sabean with his theory on building a pitching staff (back to front) to Bochy who had an innate feel for using a bullpen and you get a major reason for three rings. Yep, honoring the Core 4 is a great idea.
Also, good point re: Szapucki and Jackson. Now we will see if Zaidi uses all three slots (incl. Gonzalez) for Perez, Sabol and Piscotty. I think the first two are locks.
Update: Romo will report to spring training as an invitee on a minor league contract. He will work out with the big league group in Scottsdale prior to making an appearance in the Bay Bridge series.
Trivia note: Romo holds the record for most game appearances by a pitcher in Oracle Park history.
