It is pretty well known that a good starting QB is worth 42 points a game.

Re: Saturday other games - OutsiderFan - 10-28-2017

Oregon passed for less than 33 yards against Stanford.  If Herbert played, it changes the entire complexion of the game.  They probably throw for 200 at least with Herbert playing.  Herbert was averaging 10 yd per attempt before he was hurt.  The only other truly balanced offensive team Stanford played was USC, to whom they yielded 42 points.

Cornell beats Princeton 29-28 and is somehow tied atop the Ivy standings!  Even crazier, Columbia is there too!  (And Yale of course.)

If, and it's a big if, we win out, and stomp an undefeated ND and the pac-12 south champ, I think we'd have to have a shot, especially if Love goes brobdingnagian. But, we need a consistent QB and Love and someone to replace Holder.

Hebert didn’t play against Utah either.  Oregon got 69yards passing against Utah; I don’t think those extra 36 yards accounted for the 42 point difference.  The difference was that Oregon got 349 yards rushing against Utah on over 7 ypc.

Well, like I said, Utah stinks.  :)

A balanced Oregon offense would have destroyed Stanford's defense.  Stanford is good at stopping one-dimensional offensive teams.

Re: Saturday other games - washingtonismoney - 10-28-2017

Arizona apparently demolishing the Cougs, up 17-7

Re: Saturday other games - washingtonismoney - 10-28-2017

Man, I'm impressed by Arizona's defense. They are fast and blowing up blocks and tackling well.

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

Yes, WSU looks beatable, though I am not sure we have the surehanded tackling to do what Arizona is doing.

Re: Saturday other games - French Rage - 10-28-2017

Maybe we should have Love play QB.  Seems to work for Tate!

Re: Saturday other games - washingtonismoney - 10-28-2017

Khalil Tate, man, if you haven't seen him yet (and have the Pac-12 network), you gotta watch him. He's a supernova. Arizona up 24-7.

Re: Saturday other games - OutsiderFan - 10-28-2017

Well look, Mike Leach benches Luke Falk in the first half.

Re: Saturday other games - washingtonismoney - 10-28-2017

Whoa. Washington State swapping QBs. Leach is, in many ways, the inveterate tinkerer and course-changer -- the opposite of the received image of Shaw.

He's also a better ideologue of the game than successful head coach -- that is, the opposite of the actual record of Shaw, who certainly won't be remembered for his contributions to the schematic evolution of the game.

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

And Helinski is  6/7 and driving the team down the field.

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

WSU scores.  Interesting.

Meanwhile, good Darnold showed up against ASU.  He led the Trojans on a TD drive.

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

Wow, you think that after WSU scores with 10 seconds left that that’s it for the half.  Arizona takes the ensuing kickoff 50 yards and with 1 second left sets up a 57 yard field goal.  Nailed!

Re: Saturday other games - BostonCard - 10-28-2017

QB controversy at WSU?  Helinski has led WSU on two TD dives (the second after Tate fumbles).  WSU is down by a field goal.

And to think Falk could have become the all time leading passer in the PAC-12 this game, and a few games ago he was in the H-award conversation.

Well, Helinski also threw a really terrible pick, so who knows? I guess he stayed in after the pick. Benching Falk is pretty surprising though.

Re: Saturday other games - washingtonismoney - 10-28-2017

I find it so hard to judge Mike Leach QBs. They offense manufactures so many short throws that it's hard for me to tell what the quarterback is actually doing.
