Oops! Vegas doesn't have a line on this one, so I can't apply my new methodology of robotically trusting the oddsmakers over my own impulses.  

I basically went with the 2014 score, plus an extra TD for Davis.  Both teams are better now vs. then.

This feels like a particularly hard game to predict, because there’s so little footage of the Aggies. All I can find are a couple highlight snippets.

From what I can see, they have a top receiver, plus a lot of decent receivers. They distributed the ball to many different people last game, piling up 44 against San Jose State at San Jose State.

An old game against Oregon is online, but I don’t think that can be used as a comparison. Also, unlike USC, which strikes me as an offense with a ton of talent, but is extremely limited due to its youth, the Aggies seem to be firing on all cylinders right now. I think that actually ends up posing a greater challenge defensively. So I could see them scoring a couple times, especially if they gamble and play loose.

I would say that they would score even more, because I think that their passing game can execute really well, were the Stanford kicking game not so ridiculously good. Stanford is pretty good at limiting long plays, which will make Davis earn it piece by piece across a long field without making mistakes.

The good news, I think Stanford’s offense matches up against their defense very favorably. Unlike San Diego State, which has an undersized defense that moves a lot, Davis seems to have spent their recruiting capital getting a large sized defense, but, in the scant footage I saw, is not a defense that seems to play low or fast, and it makes mistakes. I think it’s the kind of defense our running game was made to attack.  And then you add the passing game. One concerning note: I think the San Jose running back had to leave the game due to a helmet-to-helmet hit. That’s just another reason to hold Bryce out.

Basically, I see Stanford scoring as many points as they did in 2014, because Shaw will take his foot off the gas (in 2014, Stanford scored 38 in the first half, but only seven in the second half ), but with the Aggies improved offense, I see them scoring 10 more than in 2014.

Given how UC Davis's first two games have gone, I don't think we are going to have much of a problem putting up points against them, but they may be able to get some against us. I'm calling it Stanford 38, UCD 20.

I am in for TREES 37, DUCK-FLUFF 20.  
* Looking at the SJST film on Pac12N, their OLine did not move Spartans much, and their D-Line is soft. 
They play some 2-4-5 like we do, and look more like SDSU:  agile quick LBs, but they lack heft up front.  
==>  Our run game gets healthy on Oregon.   And the PassPro needs to pick up the blitzing LBs.  
* Our TEs and JJAW will be open all day.  SJSU has a stud TE in Oliver, and he feasted on Ducks.  
==>  Play action will yield first downs; their DBs cannot stay with our array of talent.  
* Dial up the blitz packages; We cannot rush 3 and let Herbert pick his receiver.  Get into his duckbill, early.  
-- I think Fox and Reid can cover for Toohill being out, and I think they are quicker -- important for Ducks.
* They have some skill players:  But Herbert is not Mariotta; and Royce Freeman is gone; so is D.Thomas and LaMichael James.
* Without Love last week:  Speights got good reps.  I want to see more of Heimuli flattening ducks. 
* Put Michael Wilson back for punts; he posted bonus yardage.  Justus Woods showed a little flash in garbage time.  
* KJC isn't a rookie anymore -- I think he gets it together on the road.  Autzen gets real quiet if we score first.  
With disciplined Shaw, I think ESPN Game Day is a bigger distraction for Oregon than us.  It's their pond.

Tough one to call because I have no idea how good the Ducks are, since they have just played cupcakes. I think Justin Herbert is overrated as an H-man candidate, but he still is the best QB we will have faced this year. Yeah, they weren't very impressive against SJS, but we weren't very impressive against UC Davis either.
We should be able to run on the Ducks if we can find enough healthy bodies to field an O-Line. We should be able to pass on them, too, as long as Costello doesn't have the kind of day he had in the first quarter of the Davis game.
If this game were in Palo Alto, I'd be pretty confident of victory. Unfortunately it isn't. Hope we play better on the road this year than we did the last.
At the end of the day I think we win a close one. Cardinal 24, Quackers 20.

P.S. I definitely agree that the key to the game is getting pressure (a lot) on Herbert.
