Wish I could add a big nice smiley face ?
I'd be happy to be wrong, but Mills is a mystery wrapped up in an enigma for fans like myself. I've never been aware of any situation quite like his before, in part because there has been no reporting on him hardly at all.
When you say I'm wrong, Bob, what specifically am I wrong about?
Costello playing two more seasons?
Mills not only expected back to 100% health, but expected to overtake Costello?
Mills not transferring because he's too injured to ever be healthy enough to play again, and wants Stanford degree?
With all due respect, if the situation is completely opaque to you, then why speculate out of your butt? Would a better approach not have been to pose it as a question?
BC
Even asking questions leads to speculation, absent available answers.
In this particular case, nobody here seems to know anything about Mills. Even Bob can only say "he's not transferring." But that does nothing to answer his health situation, or whether he can or should be expected to one day be a full-season starting QB for Stanford. It's exceptionally strange that someone who was considered such a prized recruit would be the subject of so little reportage, unless there has a been some that I have missed. So absent information, as a fan, I will speculate, in hopes of getting corroboration or some clarity on a murky situation.
Frankly, I don't think anyone knows the answers to those questions, including Shaw and Mills himself. All they know is that they hold him out for long periods of time, and when he starts to go again he re injures it. Will that continue to happen? Who knows, but it is starting to look like it might.

Again, without actual information, I don't think it is starting to look like anything.
Though as a default, you are correct that having been injured is worse than never having been injured.

I guess we will just have agree to disagree on this one. If a football player injures his knee and then re injures it three times in the span of two years, it is (at least IMO) starting to look like a chronic problem that isn't going away.
Having said that I hope you're right. Hopefully Mills will recover and go on to be the player we hoped we were getting when we signed him.

Are we even sure they were all knee injuries, and all to the same knee? If all to the same knee and all considered setbacks during recovery of original injury, then it would seem likely Mills is done. But I've never been aware of what exactly the original injury was, or what subsequent ones have been. I don't ever remember reading or hearing "ACL" and I don't think I did "cartilage" either.

.
Well, we know that his first two injuries were to his knee (at least if you believe the Atlanta papers), and when Shaw said he had a setback, presumably he didn't mean to his elbow. Also when he left the Davis game, he had an icepack on his knee, so it is probably a good guess that was a knee problem also. It has never been disclosed just what the problem is, but Bobb says it isn't an ACL and he usually knows what he is talking about. While we don't know for sure it was the same knee, it probably is a good guess that it is.
There. Now you know as much about it as I do.

Yeah, no knee jerk reactions.
