Sorry I don’t have anything more recent, but it’s based on this link. The bottom line is that home field advantage in the wild card round is worth very little, while a bye is worth a lot more.

Not sure I'd draw that conclusion. Lots of crappy division winners facing off against very good wild card teams certainly have played a role in that stat. Home field certainly plays a role, but there are other factors involved as well.
Had the forty-niners not won the NFC west that’s the situation they would have been in, on the road against a crappy division winner (Philadelphia).

We were discussing that Greenlaw’s hit resembled the Dan Bunz goal-line stop on Charles Alexander that helped secure the Niners’ first SB win.
Then I just read an article in the Athletic that pointed out that the score in that game was 26-21, the same as in the win over the Seahawks.
And that Dre Greenlaw wears #57.....same as Dan Bunz did.
Wow, isn’t that something.

I think people are trying a little too hard to equate the two tackles because both were by LBs wearing #57. The score being the same also makes it a little more eerily similar.
The Bunz tackle was on 3rd down. Greenlaw's was on 4th. The Bunz stop was in the 3rd quarter, not the final play of the game like Greenlaw's. Bunz was in the freaking Super Bowl. Greenlaw was in regular season. If Bunz allowed the TD, the score wouldn't have given the other team the lead, let alone effectively won it for them. Bunz was in man coverage on a RB out of the backfield. Greenlaw was in zone.
I'm sure there have been other tackles made by Niners players at the goal line since Bunz that were similarl that nobody knows about because they were not with the whole country watching. Probably happened in some game against Detroit in the 2000s that nobody cared about, and had the #5 network play-by-play team calling it on some regional broadcast only about 9% of the country saw.

OF they are hitting on the similarities only. It is quirky and means little. Some folks I suspect would think it quirky that a septuagenarian is sitting in his living room posting on a college fan site at 6:30am on New Years Day. Guilty of quirky!
You have a nice New Year OF.

Thanks. You too. Speaking of quirky... When does a new year become old, or at least not new anymore?

Since this site is loaded with Stanford grads perhaps they can answer. At State we took one day at a time and we were who we thought we were.
