I wasn't clear.  I was thinking that restaurant X could say "We've made a partnership with charity Y.  A $10 donation to charity Y's program Z will allow them to buy $30 worth of dinners from us at restaurant X.  Your $10 is multiplied as we are donating the extra $20 worth of dinners to support the needy.  Meanwhile, this will help us continue to pay our employees and to stay open for your dining pleasure."

The restaurant can't spend more than $10 marginal cost for this.  I doubt the charitable deduction would be worth much this year, but the advertising and good will for the employees may be worth something.

A suggestion to Congress:  Allow charitable deductions this year to be carried forward. (I don't believe that is normally the case, although I believe it has been done for Katrina, etc.)

This org was founded by celebrity chef Jose Andres and has been involved in various disaster relief around the world, like the Haiti earthquake and Puerto Rico hurricane. I read that they are also working with the California government to provide food to homeless who are being housed in local motels.

Also Frontline Foods is working with World Central Kitchens

Back to the thread title, here's another reason why I'd think twice before eating at a sit-down restaurant:

Negative pressure restaurants, coming to a COVID-19 stricken neighborhood near you.

Chinese typically don't use central air; instead they rely on mini-split or VRF technology. The US uses central air, so in most commercial establishments, airflow is down (vertical), not across (horizontal) as is common in China.

And from the folks that brought you LEED, there's Well.
