Obviously. The more they trace, the more embarrassing it will be for them.

Personally, I think it's insane. The executive branch has been crippled and they don't even want to know how it happened?

This is perhaps outlandish, but if any hostile actors wanted to get a lot of people in our government sick it would have been really easy to do.

I think a prudent approach would be to very rigorously contact trace this, and do genotypic analysis to see what strains everyone has. They have the capability. I hope some adults are doing this. Under this admin, I wonder, and doubt.

The latest on the White House super-spreader event:

Stephen Miller announced he tested positive.

And still no mask mandate in the WH.

Also, White House staff (the cooks, housekeepers, etc) have started testing positive:

Oh, I forgot... the entire Joint Chiefs of Staff are quarantining.

And it continues.  The aid in charge of carrying the nuclear "football" was diagnosed with COVID.

Mike Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also positive for covid.

One has to think if Trump tries to go strongman, these guys will be even less inclined to go along after he infected them all with the deadly virus.

This is a nightmare scenario. America needs its military leadership to protect the country.

It’s not a question of whether America’s enemies will try to exploit this situation, its just a question of how far they might go.

Most likely, they will just “push the envelope” stealing secrets, possibly assassinating minor figures, nothing open and bold enough to demand a major response. But how can America investigate upticks of secrets disappearing, or random lower level allies “getting sick” when its leadership is wiped out.

It is so incredibly incompetent, selfish and reckless that Trump would behave in such a jackass way as to weaken America’s shield. Those soldiers take orders from him so if he doesn’t get tested, if he doesn’t want to wear a mask, if he wants to drive around in a hermetically sealed space while infectious, they have to follow those orders.

Heaven save us.

Thanks for the positive note at the end. I was focusing on the negative implications for national security. Tend to forget the domestic part of "all enemies foreign and domestic."

A reporter had tweeted that Milley was positive earlier today but I can't find any other news sources corroborating. So maybe wrong, or premature.

Up above.

They are quarantined after being exposed, but they have not tested positive.

Just a smidge of speculation here masquerading as certainty.

And as to your question: one answer might be "because they're not 'wiped out' (or even feeling sick)" - i.e., they can still do their jobs.  I know the (often) unspoken narrative is that "contracting Covid = incapacitation."  And other than being not true for the vast majority of those testing positive, it's a great unspoken assumption . . .

For those keeping track,  Barron eventually tested positive as well.

No symptoms and is now negative.
