I hope they understand that "masking" is not an effective way of maintaining "a safe environment that aligns with CDC guidelines" if you don't enforce the masking requirement. For all intents and purposes, they did not institute masking.

I may have been a victim of the rumor mill. I saw on Twitter someone said MSNBC just reported it and didn't check further. Apologies for posting without a credible source. Won't do that again. That said, I can confirm Meadows is the Village Idiot and did say what I quoted.

Given daily testing of Trump and presumably those around him, there ought to be some decent evidence of source of infection and how quickly the disease was detected, and then how long until symptoms showed up.
Trump and wife announced positive about 12 hours before we're seeing reports of mild symptoms. To me, that seems odd, unless the testing wasn't daily or there were false negatives. But, it is possible the test only shows positive after you are contagious, and they were on the short end of the duration from contagious to symptomatic.
To my mind, this demonstrates a weakness in the theory that lots of testing will prevent an individual from getting sick. I believe it allows for a mindset of "I don't have to be that careful."
It was interesting to see all the deleted posts here.
No matter what your political feelings are, this is not a good scenario for the country. It introduces a lot of uncertainty for the next few days/weeks, and, IMO, for the election. Personally, I hope that we've seen all the positive cases for this outbreak. I hope all recover quickly.
I hope the planners have run all the variants of this scenario months ago and have contingency plans of what needs to be done and by whom, so everything can be covered and dealt with by the appropriate positions, without missteps.

It was reported on a few sites that sometime (recently?) the press secretary claimed that Trump was the most tested person in the country (world?) even implying multiple tests a day. Later that day, when asked about being tested, Trump responded that he was tested a lot. Maybe once every 2 or few days.
I'm not sure when this sequence of events happened, but if recently, that would point to more gaps in the timeline for the virus to jump in.

If the POTUS is being given experimental drugs, that tells us all we need to know about how "mild" his symptoms are. No way would he get unproven treatments if there wasn't some real concern over his health. Most people just have to grin and bear it, hoping they don't end up hospitalized or worse.

He apparently knows the Regeneron CEO who is a member at his golf course. I imagine even with no symptoms he may still have wanted to try it. Not many people seem to tell him no.

Not really. The issue with antivirals, like the monoclonal antibodies is that they are probably most effective as early as possible. With influenza, antivirals are most effective within 48 hours of symptoms. So, the risk/benefit assessment is a bit different. Yes, usually you would wait, since the severity of illness is largely irrelevant to risks, but the benefits are highest for the riskiest situations. Here, the benefits wane the longer you wait.

Jumping all-in on any emerging therapy is consistent with that style. Doesn't mean the early bet will be better, but it could. The odds are good it will work out in the end IMHO. Presumably any yet to be discovered adverse event associated with the approach could be tackled quickly by his team of physicians.
Most patients will not have access to 24/7 on-site medical care, so the risks of any therapy relative to the benefits will be weighed differently.

On the other hand, in Ebola, a cocktail of monoclonal antibodies beat remdisivir. Of course, there is no reason one couldn't take both. Also, remember that POTUS' treating physicians may have access to unpublished information about the various drugs.

Doctor on MSNBC: The data shows men aged 74 who are obese with high cholesterol have a 5%-13% mortality rate. That's why he got an experimental treatment. This is a lot more serious than the Village Idiot Mark Meadows has let on.
