I agree with all of the above, maybe Luke was getting bad advice about starting or not, but it's still not something that a head coach should be saying in this day and age.  Certainly it can be used against Nebraska on the recruiting trail.

I also agree that if Luke decided that Louisville wasn't a great fit, Rice is a high esteemed institution from which to get a degree and also play football under a program looking to make its mark.  If he can't start at Rice, then we have issues. But he could be the missing piece for Rice, who knows.

My grandfather (went to Cal) was a tough kid who fought in the streets every day in both North Beach and the Sunset.  He had some interesting stories.  One was that he was out of control and his father wanted to take the starch out of him, so he allowed him to lie about his age and fight professionally when he was 15/16 in 1920.  He fought as a lightweight and lost all three bouts.
