We are not nailing open looks today; our shooting percentage has dropped below 40% despite some clean opportunities at the basket, resulting in just 5 points this quarter

Yup, would've been a 100+ pt game if not for these head-scratchers.

You described it exactly correct. McDonald fell down and they call a foul on ASU. That was such a bogus call.

Been a long time since we held a team to 8 points in a half!

We win 72-33 to end the regular season at 21-2. After a slow and laskluster first 25 minutes of the game, we had a fantastic end to the 3rd quarter and that contributed the majority of the margin of victory of the game.
Everybody who played scored and three players finished with double figures, but we missed a lot of good opportunities and that was why we only shot 41% from the field and scored 72 points, we could easily have been in the 80s or 90s if some of those shots went in.
However, thanks to the big end to the 3rd quarter, we were able to rest our starters in the fourth and protect them from freak injuries. Jerome also got extended minutes on Senior Day.
We also only had 6 turnovers, which was good to see.

Cal's #21 looks 16 years old.
Belibi seems to have regressed since the beginning of the year. It is though she has lost her mojo. She didn't play bad but she also wasn't a difference maker.

I agree; Fran had 5 rebounds, including 4 on the offensive end, but she was 3/10 and is not showing much offensively, which might be critical, going into the postseason.
Going forward into postseason play, opposing coaches will surely try to get Brink into foul trouble early and with her on the bench, we would lack a go-to back-to-the-basket post threat on the offensive end. I think Prechtel does most of her damage from the wing, either on a 3-point or at the elbow, on a mid-range. Belibi looked like that second option in the paint, especially after her 10/14 performance in the first ASU game, but after that rocky mid-season stretch and being relegated to the bench, she has not contributed much offensively.

Jump was our leading scorer tonight. She had a complete game with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. She was 4-7 from 3 point range. I really like her hustle on defense.

Everybody knows her offensive move, fake left or right and go the other way.
And it's very deliberate , not explosive

What a nice senior day celebration given the lack of family and fans. Fortunately the game went fast so there was plenty of time to fit it in during the 2 hour block.

Sorry, I missed that extra win, 3 non-conference wins (Pacific, UNLV, and Cal Poly) and a nearly complete conference schedule where we played all but one other team twice with only the 2 losses to Colorado and UCLA (missing the first Oregon State matchup)
Also, not sure which thread to put this in, but the NCAA revealed an updated Top-16 seeds and we moved up one spot to #2 overall, behind UConn.
As currently seeded, we would be in a region with Baylor, Louisville and Tennessee (and remember we would only have to face Baylor or Louisville potentially, since those 2 teams would be slated to meet in the Sweet 16 while we would face off against the Lady Volunteers).
Voepel noted that Arizona would be in our region based solely on the S-curve, but was moved out to prevent them from having to face us (since we are in the same conference)

Totally agree. Having the teammates talk about the seniors was great, Tara giving the seniors a chance to speak for themselves. And I loved Anna's comment about redoing the Senior Day bit, that the fact that it was the 2nd time didn't make it any less special. But it must have felt sad for the seniors that their families couldn't be there with them.

That was fun, or the second half and senior day stuff sure was. Cal is maybe a bit better than earlier, but we also missed a lot of bunnies so the score could well have been plus 50 or more rather than plus 39. I don't know how well that press would work against a team that handles the ball better than cal does, but it was fun to see. Although I wish otherwise I doubt any of the seniors come back. Jerome is probably ready to move on and doesn't get to play much, so makes little sense for her to come back unless she has grad school ambitions at Stanford and is ok with still spending so much time on sports. Would Wilson stick around for a 6th year? If she leaves now, she is going out on a high, starting all year and playing well. From what little Williams has said or posted on social media, it seems she is graduating and done, which makes sense since she has been playing great and probably has her best shot to be drafted higher in the WNBA. It would be a bonus is any of them did come back.

Regular season wins, right? There must have been years when we had that many conference wins counting the Pac 12 tourney.
Oregon State is coming on. Big lead over Oregon with 7 minutes left.

Yes, regular season.
