Of course the free agent gets hurt and the franchise is in the hands of a Weenie.

Well I worked with Steve Kroft for 20 years off and on so I can ID horror easily.

Yes, Verrett who is back was very good. They resigned Williams and the other corner whose name escapes me. They should get a better pass rush next season. Which will make the DB’s better.

Glad I don't GAS about the Niners. Franchise has been a tedious soap opera ever since janky Jed and his tool Trent (Baalke) booted Mooch.

Personally, I'm a bit surprised Lynch thinks he needs the #3 pick to get Davis Mills. But he's the Hall of Famer, not me.

I think the Great Sports Mystery of the 21st century is how Trent Baalke got another NFL job, much less the GM job he has with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Baalke
destroyed the 49ers. Yes, they had a three year run with Harbaugh, then melted down as he went through head coach after head coach. Yes, the 2010 Niner draft was a good one, but that was McCloughan (who was fired for personal reasons). Baalke must pucker really, really well for Urban Meyer to sign off on him, because he was a heinously bad GM for the 49ers.

That's funny...and to my eyes a correct analysis. I watched all of Mills' throws at his pro day and alot of Jones' day. Mills throws were more accurate than Jones'. The latter's receivers often had to slow down to await the ball. All but one of Mills' long throws were caught in stride. So,, I don't know why Lynch would trade two number ones to pick a guy that looked almost pedestrian to me.

Great start to the year, if only MLB had indeed instituted the 7 inning game. What an epic meltdown in the 8th, only to top it off by walking in the winning run in the 10th--three straight walks with the dude automatically placed on second. Sheesh. Five hits, eight runs by the Mariners. Guess relievers who can throw strikes wasn't high on Farhan's metrics.

I think they scored last 7 on three hits. Wisler whizzed. Garcia looked like he’d never pitched before. Went to bed after the 9th. Games are so long. I think they should move night games to 6:30. I need my beauty sleep.....

Went to bed as they headed to the bottom half of the ninth. Figured nothing good could happen. . . .

With no TV or steaming available on my cableless ridge I completely forgot about the game. So I popped in a DVD of the David Niven “Around the World...” Still holds up but Shirley McLaine must be nearing 100. Wonder what her next life will be like. Human, animal or plant?
Reading about the game this morning seems like the worries about the bullpen are justified. The lefty they got from the Dodgers will be used up by June. Yaz had a great line about the continuing boarding up of the arches in RF at China Basin. Nothing about the park becoming hitter friendly but the agony of the cold wind blowing against his back in July and August. Keeps hand warmers in his pockets. Candlestick redux?

He wouldn't. Jones should fall out of the first round. He's a product of the overwhelming athletic superiority that Alabama has at most positions. The Niners won't select him.

Jets trade Darnold for a sixth this year and a second and a fourth next. Panthers.

I can only surmise that it is because neither are Stanford teams. This is a Stanford board, not a Bay Area sports board.

How about you rename the Giants thread the Austin Slater thread. And the Niners thread the John Lynch thread. Will that do it for you, mods?

The goal is an equitable balance - given the location of Stanford, there's a critical mass of folks who are fans of our local pro teams. But lately there's been a proliferation of threads about various pro teams/trivia/drafts/etc., so I suppose this is our uneasy effort to strike a balance. We're happy for folks to keep chatting, but we'd like to keep it all in one place as much as possible. :)

As a mod I would vote to allow one thread each on Bay Area pro teams. Fwiw.
