We lead 53-20 at the half as we've already made 12 3-pointers, five from Kiana.
Not too much to say, as I don't think we can glean that much from this matchup.
We are taking care of business as we should and giving everyone playing time. All 12 active players have seen action now and I expect that after a few cursory minutes from the starters to begin the second half, the bench will be playing the rest of the way.

Ki is on pace to score 34. I want her to win the tourney MVP. We're so deep though, she probably won't put up the numbers to do it.
Prechtel has 2 brinks.
Jones with 5 assists. That's what we need from her.

Didn't we tie the Stanford record for 3 pointers in a game during the Pac 12 tournament with 15, or something like that? We could break an all time Stanford one game record in the same game that Kianna broke the individual career record.
Our all time single game record for 3 pointers made is 16, made three times. We need 5 in the second half to break the record.
Only 1 trey in the third quarter, so we at 13. Need 3 to tie our record, 4 to beat it, and 5 to tie an NCAA tournament record.

We lead 71-32 after 3 quarters. Our hot three point shooting cooled off significantly in the 3rd quarter but it was not really needed. Utah Valley had its most productive quarter offensively with 12 points, but we still added 7 points to our lead.
Belibi with a couple of great blocks.

Anna Wilson tweaked her ankle and left with the trainer. Let's hope it is minor. We could really use her against the Oklahoma State three point shooters, but we shall see if she gets held out. If she can't play I presume we will see a lot more of Lacie.

We win 87-44, our offense and 3 point shooting cooled off in the second half, but we did enough.
My only quibble is that I believed because our offense slowed and looked disjointed in stretches of the second half, Tara felt compelled to bring back a couple of starters including Wilson to get our play straightened out and that was when Anna got injured.
If we had executed a little better and had a little more energy, then I think Tara would not have brought back a couple of the starters into the game.
Anna walked off the court under her own power without assistance with a bit of a limp, so I hope it was nothing significant.

In the second half I thought the refs disrupted the game with a bunch of ticky tack calls. It amazes me when a team plays the same as they have been playing all game and the refs suddenly decide to start whistling everything.
I counted 5 blocks by Prechtel, but ESPN stats only show 3. We had 8 blocks and 8 steals.
Best stat of the night . . . 24 assists.

Agreed. 24 assists on 33 made baskets. That is astonishing. We also shot 56%.

Save that shooting for later!!! Nice game against a clearly overmatched team. I do hope Wilson is ok. Congrats to Kiana Williams for breaking the Stanford career three-point shooting record! She has been finishing her career (can't imagine she will stay for another year) beyond strong. Can't believe the team traveled so far only to get Missy yet again.

More so on offense. Less so on defense. Point differential compared to 1990 is about the same, but my recollection is that Tara teams then would start substituting liberally at 20+ point differentials (more so than today).

I suspect it was intentional to launch the 3 pointers today. It discourages zone defenses.
I watched the Washington State 4th quarter so I missed much of the Stanford 2nd half. I knew we'd mostly have our starters out (Williams 23 min, Lexie Hull & Wilson 22 min; 10 players played 15-23 minutes) I'll have to go watch the recording. Still, I expected more scoring in the 3rd quarter.
Once you're way ahead, the officials (and certainly Missy) call a different game against the leading team.
For a comparison: UConn players played Bueckers 36 min, Westbrook 35 min, Nelson-Ododa 32 min, Williams & Edwards 25 min. So 5 played more minutes than any Stanford player. I guess they need the practice....
Points per 40 minutes in today's games (15+ minutes):
Williams 34.8, Brink 23.5, Lexie 12.7, Wilson 10.9, Jones 15.0, Lacie 30.0, Jump 19.0
Bueckers 26.7, Nelson-Ododa 27.5, Wiliams 20.8, Westbrook 11.4, Edwards 27.2

The stats at GoStanford do not include her block/deflection at 5:07 3Q. (It also miscredits the rebound to Hannah rather than Haley)
At 7:10 3Q, Prechtel takes a good position for a rebound but then when another player goes to block her out, she just willingly backs away, giving up any chance for the rebound which came to where she had been. At 6:18 3Q she is between a player with the ball and the basket but turns her head, allowing the player to get an uncontested layup. At 5:30, she does a good spin to get into position for a rebound. At 4:12 she steps into the lane early on a FT. At 3:37 she blocks a shot (credited). At 3:22 she deflects a dribble and also winds up with possession (credited with a steal). At 1:48 4Q she blocks or deflects a shot that doesn't hit the rim (uncredited).

Does anybody have a link to the press conferences from the game? There were clips from them on the news last night but I can't find the press conferences on Stanford's or the NCAA's sites.
Thanks and Cheers,

VERY IMPORTANT QUOTE FROM TARA:
"No one got hurt."
She praised our team effort, especially in the first half, but said we need to be able to play aggressive defense without fouling which we did too much. Also criticized our post defense because "people got up in the air rather than playing position defense."
