So the draft ends with only three drafted
All Srs.
So Williams coming back almost certainly but 3-5 Srs could also return. Grad schooler more undergrad?
Baseball Junkie your thoughts ?

Given the season, this is a combination of having young talent, which bodes well for next year, and of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts, a testament to Esquer.
I think BaseballJunkie is right (I forgot if here or in a previous thread), but after a brief stumble due to the transition between 9 and Esquer, Stanford baseball is poised for some great things.

I would be speculating. If I'm guessing, I say none return. One transfers for fifth year, three retire, one signs FA contract.

Why oh why would one leave before graduating if one is not drafted? That question, of course, was directed at our junior pitcher.

Williams is not part of the "none return" prediction.

Thank you. I guess after Williams, anyone who returns is simply a bonus.

Correct! I would be stunned if Alex doesn't return. He almost certainly will and will be the anchor of the rotation. And, as we saw with Brendan, you can be a fourth year junior and still be considered a big time prospect

Indeed, there were
18 fourth year junior (academic senior) pitchers taken in the top 5 rounds alone!

A few thoughts after being away from the board for a bit ...
Beck is an interesting story. He came in having good control and "pitchability" but greatly developed both his high end speed on the fastball and break on his curve ball. I think he hit 97/96 in that last outing - just before the final disaster struck. One usually thinks about things developing the other way 'round. Apparently some scouts saw the improving basic stuff, and that led to his getting drafted higher than anticipated.
Baseball always has uncertainty about how things will develop, but the offense ought to be great next year.
Pitching (as usual) is the uncertainty. Williams returning is brobdingnagian. Some others will have to emerge. I like Matthews' potential more than most here, but he has to throw strikes consistently. Lots of others who may emerge, but some have to actually do so.
I don't know a lot about new pitchers coming in. Sounds like Montgomery could contribute at pitching if that is the direction he wants to go. Anyone know more?
Here is a local paper article on Montgomery. They compare him to Ohtani - but Stanford fans could think if Will Matthiessen (in 2019 6-2 as a starting pitcher and tops on the team in RBI).

Both of those boys will need to get better defensively but they can flat out rake!
