Louise Bliss was the voice of Crusader Rabbit. She also hosted the Birthday Show on KRON. Captain Fortune was on KPIX, a studio show with 16mm remote features starring Pete Abenheim and the immense Dick Camp usually sword fighting in Golden Gate Park. Bobbbbbbb K was the occasional victim who was covered in studio blood.

Bullwinkle. Brilliant. Then ,of course there was the great Soupy Sales. His “kids” show was a double entendre fest. Live of course. Here is a snippet from one of his most (in)famous shows:

"Hey, kids," he began. "Last night was New Year’s Eve, and your mom and dad were out having a good time. And they work hard, and after last night, they are probably still sleeping, so what I want you to do is tiptoe into the bedroom, but don’t wake them up. You will see your mom’s pocketbook and your dad’s pants on the floor, but don’t wake ’em up! Go into your mom’s pocketbook and your dad’s pants, and you will see little green pieces of paper with pictures of guys with beards on them. Now, don’t wake them up, but get those little green pieces of paper and put them in an envelope, and on the envelope write Soupy Sales, Channel 5.”


On his last show he held up his hand to say “goodbye”. He’d lower a finger each time. Last good bye was “for the producer”. Guess what finger was left up.
