ESPN has a new evaluator. Olsen was outstanding. He travels the country watching games. Then it was a committee
Now a real evaluator. I forget who
Remember our current Frosh class dropped when it was hard for west coast travel teams to go east to be seen
Agara plays on an outstanding HS team so she’s being seen even in HS.
The other services rely on camps more than espn

Meanwhile, Prospect Nation (Chris Hansen's baby) just released its initial Top 25 rankings,
9 of these Top 25 have committed, and 5 out of these 9 commits are PAC 12 bound,
2 of them going to Stanford:
#07 5-star Courtney OGDEN Stanford
#14 4.5-star Sunaja AGARA Stanford
#16 4.5-star Jada WILLIAMS UCLA
#17 4.5-star Sofia BELL Oregon
#20 4.5-star Montaya DEW Arizona
Stanford-bound wings OGDEN (#7) and AGARA (#14) are the 1st and 3rd highest commits so far,
with UConn-bound PG ARNOLD (#8) as the 2nd highest commit.

Wow! Another Top 5 guard makes 4 Top 5 guards and 5 Top 8 guards
for UConn starting in 2023:
2020 #1 overall - BUECKERS Sr PG
2021 #1 overall - FUDD Jr SG
2021 #5 overall - DUCHARME Jr SG/SF
2023 #5 overall - SHADE Fr SG
2023 #8 overall - ARNOLD Fr PG
As great as that looks, that actually "pales" in comparison with what
they have this season at the guard position:
2017 #2 overall - WESTBROOK RSSr SG/PG
2018 #1 overall - WILLIAMS Sr SG
2020 #1 overall - BUECKERS So PG
2021 #1 overall - FUDD Fr SG
2021 #5 overall - DUCHARME Fr SG/SF
Oh well!

Also 2023 commit Nunu AGARA (Hopkins). And 2024 recruit Kendall DUDLEY (Sidwell). And someone I hope we are recruiting 2023 top 10 guard Jadyn DONOVAN (Sidwell). Donovan has a 4.1 GPA and is followed by Coach Anderson.

I watched the Sidwell vs Hopkins high school game. Agara looks like a similar player to Belibi. In her intro she said she could dunk. She seems very strong. Seemed more comfortable in the post than on the perimeter. Pretty good defender as she was able to keep guards (Kiki Rice) in check.
Other players: Kiki Rice looked very good. Sad she is not coming to Stanford but glad she is staying the PAC. I really liked Jadyn Donovan. Big guard and extremely quick and athletic. I would say slightly quicker and more athletic than Rice who herself is way way up there. I really hope we are recruiting Donovan (has a 4.1 gpa).

Any thoughts on Kendall Dudley too? I saw part of the game and she looked good too. Agree on Rice (though I will add that based upon what I saw I'm not sure how much of a team player she is, but maybe that was conditioned by my disappointment that she chose UCLA over Stanford).

I agree on Dudley, she looked good as well. Very quick and athletic. I would say Rice and Donovan stood out more on the Sidwell team. Good point about style of play as Sidwell is basically trying to fast break at every opportunity and use their athleticism to drive to the basket. Hopkins has more of a half court offense and Agara set some nice screens that lead to open three's for her teammates.

Interesting that the first game (featuring Sidwell plus Hopkins -- Paige Bueckers' alma mater) was on ESPNU (UConnU?) but not the second game (Grandview/Lauren Betts vs. DeSoto).

There is a highlight video on YouTube where you basically see all the scoring plays. Desoto was overall more athletic and scored in transition. Betts the elder looked great. Yes she’s tall but she’s also very skilled and smart around the basket. She made a mid-range jumper and looked very comfortable taking it. Betts the younger had a few nice baskets mostly on passes from her older sister. Quite clear that Lauren is going to be a star at Stanford and quite likely start as a freshman.

Grandview had a hot start and was up by 12 late in the first half. Betts looked great. Desoto is the #2 ranked team in the country with seven seniors with D1 scholarships. Grandview has Lauren Betts and Marya Hudgins, a Santa Clara recruit . Desoto's talent level started showing late in the first half. Desoto came from seven down at the half to win by 14, but it wasn't that close. The Grandview guards were having trouble getting into their offense in the second half let alone getting the ball into Betts. Just not enough talent on the Grandview team. Desoto's posts were listed as 6'4" and 6'5". but they looked very small compared to Betts. Betts is a load. She'll be getting major minutes.
Sienna Betts played almost the entire game. If she adds a couple of inches and progresses, she could be a player. She didn't stand out particularly, and she is more of a wait and see in my opinion, but goodness gracious, she's a 9th grader playing against D1 talented seniors.
The first game featured Kiki Rice. Tried to find something to dislike about her game, but she lived up to her billing. Nunu Agara, our classs of 23 recruit, looked pretty good. There was an amazing amount of talent on both teams. Agara might be taller than 5"11". Definitely a wide body who mixes it up in the post. Good rebounder. Not a primary ball handler, but able to hold her own.
