Story on Maya Dodson and her decision to transfer to ND. Interesting she wants to play another year in college and I assume would be eligible with Covid. I don't see her playing professional basketball at least not in the ultra competitive WNBA. I wish her the best in her future endeavors except when she's playing against Stanford. She seemed to be a great teammate and represented Stanford well on and off the court in her time on the farm.

Also highlights that non-starters at Stanford can go to other programs - very strong ones, even - and play a LOT more (Dodson averaging 29+ minutes/game now, per article). And as much as we all love Stanford University, it's worth remembering that the student-athletes probably love playing their sport even more than they love Stanford (although I hope it's "close").

Maya DODSON (2021) is the 3rd Cardinal to transfer out to Notre Dame since 2017, following Lili THOMPSON (2017) and Martha SNIEZEK (2019). The timing is certainly good for her, as she can still play another season (due to covid year) for the Irish if she wants to, assuming that she's in grad school so her basketball scholarship can cover her grad studies expenses. And Notre Dame will definitely need her for another year, since they are lacking in post players next season unless they're able to acquire a post player from the transfer portal.

And I have a feeling more will transfer out, starting with Jana VAN GYTENBEEK, especially if Tara continues to show that she's not needed beyond garbage time duties...
next year, both pg's ahead of jana will have graduated. it will just be jana and a true freshman. i would expect jana will get lots of playing time unless we get a transfer.

Am I a bad person for having the following reaction to the UConn injuries: "I hope that means UConn loses some games so that Geno does not catch Tara in the All-Time Ws race" . . . at least this year? Beyond hoping that none of the injuries is serious, that's all I really care about with respect to UConn's women hoopsters' injury front.

UConn's WBB board has a rule against posting rumors or even speculation that some player might transfer out. That seems like a good rule to me.

Great reminder and a great set of rules. I agree that we should not speculate on transfers.
Don't you all really mean that the entire subject of Stanford transfers out should be off limits?
I mean, what if it's a fact that Player X parent said to Poster Y here that "My kid is unhappy at Stanford and looking elsewhere." Relaying that conversation is not speculation; however, it's on a topic that is sensitive and a hot button issue for many folks here. So perhaps the better rule is to just not comment on transfer outs until things like "so and so has entered the transfer portal" actually happens.
BTW, and to remove any doubt, I did not have any conversation with a player parent along the lines of hypothetical above.

I’m not one for hard and fast rules, but I do favor norms, and I agree that generally people ought not to speculate wildly about transfers, especially if it is on the basis of nothing more than the fact that a player hasn’t gotten as much playing time as expected.

Right, because why would anyone even entertain the notion that an elite HS hoops recruit would ever think about transferring - especially from beloved Stanford - if she is riding pine all the time during Cardinal games?
Just make it a hard and fast "no talk of transfer" rule on this board. It's the only way to protect the sensitivities in these parts.

The Georgia Tech loss is the first UConn loss to an unranked team in 240 games.
UConn plays UCLA on Saturday at 10:00 am televised on ABC.

I think this should go in a different thread and not the one about our upcoming game with Pacific, but this is their first loss to an unranked team since losing to St. John's on February 18th. February 18, 2012. Yep, they almost went a decade without losing to an unranked team and they lost by one then.
Their last double digit defeat to an unranked team was 50-61 to Arizona State on Dec. 21, 2004, so about 17 years ago.
