Kinda glad they play at 7:00.. I’ll miss most of the first game but should be there prior to tip-off to Stanford game.

Will be there for both games on Friday -- want to see who wins the 4:30 game to see who Stanford will play on Sunday. I'm betting that there is no repeat of 1998.

Any idea what time the game will be on Sunday? Not looking past MT State, just trying to figure out schedule.

ESPN is listing the second round as TBD, but from what I remember 2nd round on west coast is usually something like 6pm or 7pm start time.

I would guess Sunday game would be a 6 or 7 pm start time. Might I also add my annoyance with the TV schedule. South Carolina and NC State both on ESPN. We get ESPN2. And although not a 1 seed, UConn gets their first round game on ABC. Of course they do. PUKE!

Agreed. It's just those that wager have put money down differently (IIUC).
Stanford didn't really "improve" anything.
So.Carolina did lose between the previous odds and these, and yet their odds improved from 2/1 to 7/4.

In fairness, I'd give them much better odds after seeing their actual bracket, which I think is by far the easiest path to the final four, as well as avoiding either Stanford or UConn until the championship game. Some versions of brackets floated by Creme and others prior to the conference tournaments suggested UConn could end up in SCAR's region, which, IMHO, would significantly reduce the odds that SCAR would get championship number two.

Not getting Baylor, UCONN, or one of the Iowa teams makes me like our chances. Texas has to deal with LSU. Maryland is a real challenge and either LSU or Texas will be tough too, but I like Stanford’s chances against any of them. Any one and done tournament is nerve wracking, but that’s what makes winning so sweet.

First time ever getting significantly worse seats. I guess that means a lot of people from Kansas/Georgia/Montana?

Agree re: UConn and Baylor, a little less worried about the Iowa schools. I think ISU is really one dimensional and our defense would cut them up. Iowa is a two-woman show, and if anyone knows how to negate teams that rely on one or two players, it's Tara. I think Smith would be really hard for us to guard, and UConn plays a style pretty similar to ours, but they have a better PG and offensive production from their guards, but worse interior coverage, so that'd be a real toss-up. I'm not thrilled we are scheduled to face both Maryland and Texas, but I agree that there are worse brackets out there.
Also, just putting it out there, assuming Georgia Tech gets passed Kansas, I wouldn't sleep on them either. They beat UConn (without Bueckers), destroyed UNC, came within a basket of beating Louisville, and kept it pretty close against NC State. As far as second rounds go, that's nothing to sniff at.

The Massey Women's Basketball Ratings provide a tool for assessing the relative strength of all the D1 teams. Unlike the AP poll (which polls a group of sports writers each week to rank the top 25 teams) or the USA Today poll (which uses a group of coaches's votes to rank the top 25 teams) Massey uses mathematical algorithms which tap several variables of actual play to rank all 356 D1 teams.
Massey, a mathematician specializing in amateur and professional sports statistics, formulates data each week to arrive at a snapshot of relative team strength. He also has other tools on his site to offer other analysis. One of his tools, “Matchups," permits one to tap into Massey's massive databases to provide a “what if” scenario predicting scores, differentials, and winners of head-to-head action should the two teams meet on the court. For those of you wishing to pass the time between games by checking out how your team would fare against another team statistically, this tools for you!
I’ve used Matchups to compare Stanford against it’s likely matchups in the tournament —
STANFORD vs MONTANA STATE
Most Likely Score: Stanford 83, Montana State 53
WinProbability: 99%
STANFORD vs KANSAS
Most Likely Score: Stanford 74, Kansas 61
WinProbability: 87%
STANFORD vs GEORGIA TECH
Most Likely Score: Stanford 75, Georgia Tech 61
WinProbability: 87%
STANFORD vs MARYLAND
Most Likely Score: Stanford 75, Maryland 68
WinProbability: 70%
The results that I showed above are simply summaries of Massey's data, his site provides a set of colorful charts and graphs. Try it yourself using it with Stanford against South Carolina, UCON, or any other team that you wish to. Of course, the game has to be played on the court and the actual results are dictated by human factors, but it is fun to see how results can be extrapolated from the game data which has been accumulated throughout the season (it can also guide your bracket selection — it’s probably more reliable than the accumulated hunches of sports fans as assessed by bookmakers in Las Vegas).

FWLIW, Bilas picked Stanford to cut down the nets . . . the only person at ESPN to do so (as far as I know).
I'm mixed on that because while Bilas is obviously bright and knows the game, his sanctimony is over the top (especially when it came to paying college athletes). But then again, lots of sports cognoscenti have that characteristic. Give me Van Pelt (and Stanford Steve) all day, any day. They have a good sense of humor and play it reasonably straight.
And there are several very good broadcasters in the ESPN stable, and Doris Burke, the NBA color commentator, is very near the top of the list. She is excellent. For PbP announcers, I like the versatile Kevin Harlan best. BTW, the SF local crop of broadcasters is excellent overall, the SF Giants guys, Greg Pappa, etc.

STANFORD vs SOUTH CAROLINA
Most Likely Score: South Carolina 63, Stanford 60

(Should the brackets hold, these two teams could be in for a real dogfight determined by a missed shot or a rebound. Kind of like last year's Semifinal.)

Thanks for posting. I remember being surprised at the presser after the Pac-12 semi-final game when Tara was asked a question by someone who identified themselves as being from the Washington Post. Most of the questions were from Oregon papers assuming a Stanford-Oregon final.

Not certain, but looking at the DirecTV Guide, it lists games at 11:00, 1:00, 4:00 and 6:00. I'm guessing either the 4:00 or 6:00 is ours (the other being Arizona's).
