The Top 4 seeds in the tournament may not make the CWS.
Thankfully, the one we care about did! Crazy that we are the only one of the top four seeds to make it through.

Stanford is going to have three SEC West teams with them on their side of the CWS bracket: Arkansas who they'll play in the first game, Auburn, and Ole Miss, who went south to their super regional at Southern Miss and swept the series without giving up a run.
On the other side of the bracket are Notre Dame, and mutual rivals Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M.
So the CWS this year consists of 6 current and future SEC teams plus Stanford and Notre Dame.

After a few days rest, I like our chances! This team can hit like no other Cardinal team I have ever seen. Our pitching staff will be critical for Omaha so I hope the arms are all in good enough shape to make the run after a few well earned days off. Let the homer's keep rolling for Stanford in in the CWS! Will ESPN pair up Peterson and Fleming? Go Card!

So...out of the eight remaining teams, where would the postseason power rankings place Stanford?

Coaches' Poll:
Stanford 4
A&M 7
Notre Dame 11
Texas 12
Ole Miss 19
Auburn 20
Arkansas 23
Oklahoma 27
Stanford's bracket comprises the number 4, 19, 20, and 23 teams.
The upper bracket comprises the number 7, 11, 12 and 27 teams.

I do imagine that our esteem has dropped from lack of quality starting pitching over the last three games :( Surely we will face hotter bats than UConn in Omaha. Hope Esquer rights the ship there.

That poll hasn't been updated since before the tournament began ... and of the various rankings out there seems to be the least reliable overall.
The only major ranking I know that has been updated this week is from Collegiate Baseball. They're also not really reliable as they seem to have automatically made the CWS teams the top 8. That's kind of useful in thinking about the relative merits of the final 8 teams, not at all useful in thinking about whether we really learned anything about the limits of the Tennessee team (or any other team that didn't make the CWS).
The have:
#1 Stanford
#2 Texas AM
#3 Arkansas
#4 Oklahoma
#5 Texas
#6 Notre Dame
#7 Auburn
#8 Mississippi
That puts #1, #3, #7 and #8 on Stanford's side of the draw, with first game vs #3.
Collegiate Baseball also has the losers of the Super Regionals ranked #9-#16, with UConn at #16.
However, they also put Texas State at #17.

By the way, at Warren Nolan's site he has the live RPIs he has several related rankings.
RPI:
#2 Stanford
#4 Notre Dame
#5 Auburn
#6 Oklahoma
#7 Texas
#8 Texas AM
#19 Mississippi
Also of interest #18 Texas State, #26 UConn, #48 UCSB
ELO-Chess ranking:
#2 Texas AM
#3 Stanford
#4 Notre Dame
#6 Oklahoma
#7 Texas
#8 Mississippi
#10 Auburn
#13 Arkansas
Also of interest: #15 Texas State, #22 UCSB, #29 UConn
Odds of winning CWS (no idea what odds are based upon):
Texas 18.8%
Stanford 15.8%
Notre Dame 14.1%
Mississippi 14.0%
Arkansas 10.9%
Texas AM 9.5%
Auburn 9.4%
Oklahoma 7.4%

Fun look at the MLB impact of the eight teams going to Omaha this year:

From the notes on TAM: "
Reliever Jake Palisch picked up a win and a save in the two games."
Geaux Cardinal!
