Right in stride.  Hats off.

Hopefully our defense makes as top at some point...

I withdraw my comment about the fake injury. I guess he was leaving the field because he was hurt.

50 on one play helps.

Yeah, they're really selling it ;)

I guess it was good coaching, if you're hurt, at least give us a free time out.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - martyup - 09-10-2022

I figured we would have to score on every drive to win this game.  I didn't think our D could stop SC.  I also guessed that we could move the ball on SC based on what I saw in the Rice game.  At this point, we need some turnovers to have a chance.  Come on Austin, cough it up!

It’s fine to put it in Shaw.  But do it for the failure to recruit on the defensive side of the ball.  You can’t coach around small, unphysical and slow.  It’s impossible.

You can't recruit around it, either. At least not if you're Shaw. I don't even think he knows what he needs anymore. Certainly not in his coaching staff.

Ball security.   :-(

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - martyup - 09-10-2022

Wrong team turned it over.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - winflop - 09-10-2022

I might be going home at halftime. Haven’t done that since I can’t remember. This is ****ing embarrassing

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - chrisk - 09-10-2022

This game may not end until 9pm

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - thunder_chik - 09-10-2022

Is that our third turnover (2 interceptions + fumble)?  Hard to overcome.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - d4cohn - 09-10-2022

I have watched a fair amount of Oklahoma football when Lincoln Riley coached there,
and even when Oklahoma lost, unless they played a team liked LSU with pros on their defense,
the Sooners got their points (30-40 pts).

Lincoln hasn't changed his coaching philosophy, so if Stanford wants to win tonight,
they have to beat Lincoln at his game, which means converting drives into TD's,
and getting stops as you can get them (and yes, FG's are stops in Big 12 football).

Now, we are not converting our drives into TD's, but SC is playing Big 12 defense,
where they give up yards between the 20's, and count on getting stops (TO's and FG's)
inside the 20 if the drive gets there.

Not really sure what you mean by “can’t recruit around it.”  My only point is you could have Bill Belichick and the greatest group of defensive coaches in the history of football and if they don’t have any talent they’re not going to be effective.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - old spanish trail - 09-10-2022

i dunno Win. Score isn't great but the offense is pretty interesting.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - lex24 - 09-10-2022

There a shitty call and a fumble inside the five from being tied 21 to 21. They’re going to get slaughtered in this game I don’t have much doubt. But they are playing well offensively.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-10-2022

I have U$C 28, Stanford 31
-- Totally on track here...

I had USC 45, Stanford 20. I was way overly optimistic.

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - Treefence - 09-10-2022

Geeze we might give up 70 today...

RE: Stanford vs USC Game Thread - martyup - 09-10-2022

I'm not sure that our offense is as good as SC is making it look.  Rice moved the ball well against SC.  I think their D is pretty weak.  Their offense is another story.
