Frankly, the NCAA changes its approach to such matters so often that I don't know the answer to my question.

With just two super regionals now, I think there's no doubt Stanford will go to the west super regional in Seattle.

The article reminded me about UNLV, coached of course by Lindy LaRocque. They're unbeaten in conference in the regular season, but still have their conference tournament to play, starting noon today. So that can give us someone to root for while we wait for Stanford to play again.

The article reminded me about UNLV, coached of course by Lindy LaRocque. They're unbeaten in conference in the regular season, but still have their conference tournament to play, starting noon today. So that can give us someone to root for while we wait for Stanford to play again.

Definitely will be rooting for UNLV, following the game as best I can. I don't see an easy way to watch on TV. Does anyone know if it will be broadcast?

Lindy's team wins 84-47 in the quarterfinals.  Decisive.   They are 18-0 in conference and the next team is 13-5, so UNLV should be decided favorites to win in the semis tomorrow and then the finals on Wednesday, and make it to the big dance.

There have been a lot of Vanderveer coaches on the tree, but I don't think any of them have had this much success this quickly.  How many head coaches can we think of that played or coached for Tara?

It is amazing to see so many who have spent at least a little time in coaching.  I think I was wondering about Div I head coaches, to which I suppose we should add professional head coaches.  Of those head coaches, I think Lindy has been most successful very early in her career.  CTT  and Staley were certainly very successful too.  Who else on the Tara coaching tree has had early or sustained success as a head coach at Div I level or higher, as defined by having winning records, making the NCAAs, etc.?

Portland (22-8) upsets #15 Gonzaga in the WCC final, perhaps taking a bubble spot from nearby Oregon.

So Charlie Creme's projected NCAA brackets has the following:

1 South Carolina 
2 Utah

vs

1 Stanford
2 Iowa



1 Indiana
2 UConn

vs

1 Virginia Tech
2 Maryland


I just have a feeling that the NCAA Committee will bunch up Stanford and 
UConn on one side of the bracket, and will upgrade Iowa to a 1-seed
on the heels of how strongly they finished their Big 10 season, with 
wins over projected 1-seed Indiana, projected 2-seed Mayland and
projected 3-seed Ohio State. 

And UConn, with Azzi FUDD and Caroline DUCHARME both finally healthy  
while coming off the bench, will be like the UConn of old.
Although they are most likely a 2-seed, they and South Carolina
are my sure bets to be in the Final Four. 

And I also think that Texas will be the primary darkhorse
that will most likely upset a 1-seed or a 2-seed in their Regional.

I think those pairings of the 8 teams makes the most sense; however, I think Virginia Tech and Maryland will be on South Carolina's side of the bracket and Iowa and Stanford will be flipped (Iowa the #1/ Stanford the #2) and on the Indiana side of the bracket. We shall see.

While we have struggled, I honestly don't oppose being on South Carolina's side of the bracket. I think that would be scary for the Gamecocks, knowing they may have to go through us in the Final Four to even get back to the championship.
