Well, it's 46 to 22 at the half.

Kiki 7 for 10 from field; total of 17 points in first half.  Looking like a star so far.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Hawaii, Game Thread - martyup - 11-08-2023

We shot 47% overall, 43% from 3, and 100% from the charity stripe. 7 assists and 4 turnovers.

Few fans showed up for tip-off to the season.

Last season it was 40-17 vs Hawaii at the end of the first half. Tonight it's 46-22. I expect this will be a trend this season - more offense but giving up more points. Perhaps the higher offensive numbers will result in more national attention for our star players.

Marty, love the gifs, perfect!
It’s the Iriafen show tonight
To me looks way improved from last year
Great to see we have another stellar big so Brink not left on an island
Some of the freshman look like, well, freshman, and that’s being generous

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Hawaii, Game Thread - martyup - 11-08-2023

Nice steal and fast break by Brink.

Brink picks up 2 quick fouls in the 3rd Q and must sit with 2 fouls. I question why to sit her when we have a 33 point lead and Kiki is playing well in the post. Let Cameron play. If she fouls out, no biggie.

As I expected, how far we go this year will be a direct reflection of how much Kiki and Elena can elevate their games. So far, I like what I see. For Kiki in particular, confidence is at least half the battle -- and I think it's great that she does not have to worry about Betts stealing her minutes.

Brink looks a little out of sorts
A little sloppy & wild
Sitting so much anyway
Hannah Jump really a sweet smooth shooter
Bosgana pretty good
Demetre a disappointment so far on offense
Lepolo? Meh

Memo to Coach Haase: Stanford going 15 for 15 from the charity stripe is a real thing

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Hawaii, Game Thread - martyup - 11-08-2023

66 to 30 after 3 quarters.

I think Iriafen & Bosgana stepped up
Looking good there, especially if they play like this while Brink has a good game
However I think the guard play has been a concern
Jump w some assists but the real point & shooting guards abysmally weak on assists
No one stepped up to look at all like the floor general we will need against better teams

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Hawaii, Game Thread - martyup - 11-08-2023

Ogden fouled out.  She finished with 7 points, 1 rebound, and 2 turnovers.  She's got talent, but needs to avoid fouling.

Go Agara! Also, the fact that Lepolo has not scored (or gotten lots of assists) may just leave the door open for Clardy -- and Ogden will obviously focus on better defense without fouls sooner rather than later. Then again last few minutes just bad.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Hawaii, Game Thread - mbdude - 11-08-2023

agree  Brink and jump with 8 of the 12 assists. 1 assist for 4 others

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Hawaii, Game Thread - Softball Fan - 11-08-2023

Stanford has some physically strong players.  Kiki looking really good against an over-matched team.  I'm interested in how she does against good teams when Cam is on the bench.

Agara plays with so much confidence.  She's not afraid to take it to the hoop in traffic.  She's got 18 points and 4 rebounds in 14 minutes.

Demetre played a good game.  12 points, 8 rebounds, 2-3 from 3, 2-2 FT.  He defense was also very good.
