RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - amytmueller - 03-03-2025

Stanford's 1 shot lead was due to a heroic effort in the second round!

In the first round, Oregon was -17 and Stanford was -6, so Oregon had an 11 shot lead.

In the second round, Oregon was +1 and Stanford was -11, so we made up 12 strokes!

Well now the Rubber meets the Road today. I am counting on some of our poorer performing players to up their game on todays round.

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - Spiny_Norman - 03-04-2025

Stanford pulled away to win by 8 shots over Oregon. Stanford was led today by Paula Martin Sampedro who fired a 66. She finished the tournament tied with an Oregon and a USC player in a 3 way tie for the individual championship. Also under par today - Megha Ganne with 68 and Kelly Xu with 70.

Final team results
Stanford -29
Oregon -21
USC -7

Final individual results
T1. Martin Sampedro -13
4. Xu -12
7. Ganne -3
T10. Ortengren even
T20. Sundberg +4

Next up is the Charles Schwab tournament in Fort Worth in 3 weeks. This will be the final team event before the ACC tournament in 6 weeks. Of course, in between is the Augusta National Women's Amateur which will include most of the Stanford team.

Maybe we'll get some indication of Andrea Revuelta's status soon as she is an invitee to the ANWA event. If she doesn't play, I would assume she is injured. If she does play, I am mystified about what's going on.

Worth a read - Coach Walker's comments on the 6 current Stanford golfers who have been invited to ANWA.

Did we ever get some clarity on what has happened with Revuelta?

Not to my knowledge. Most likely either she has been injured or the other players have beat her in qualifying. In the absence of any information, all we can do is speculate.

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - Spiny_Norman - 03-25-2025

Stanford made up 6 shots on the back 9 to overtake Oregon and win the Charles Schwab Collegiate tournament by 2 shots. Auburn and Wake Forest finished 4 more shots back.

The golf course played very tough. No team finished under par. USC, the #5 team in the country, finished +37 (which put them 37 shots behind Stanford).

Stanford was led today by Megha Ganne and Paula Martin Sampedro who shot 67 and 68 respectively. Meja Ortengren had even par 70. Nora Sundberg, with a rock steady even par on the back 9, shot 72. Kelly Xu surprisingly struggled to a 76.

I think it's clear that 4 spots in the lineup are locked up by Xu, Ganne, Martin Sampedro and Ortengren. The 5th is up for grabs among Sundberg, Andrea Revuelta and Leigh Chien.

Revuelta and Chien played as individuals yesterday and today at a tournament in Millbrae. Revuelta finished T3 and Chien was T11.

The team now preps for a big week at Augusta for the Augusta National Women's Amateur which begins a week from tomorrow. All of the team except for Chien will be there. Rachel Heck too.

The next collegiate action for the team is the ACC tournament which begins Weds, April 16.

For the first time all year they had to come from behind to win, and against a top-notch field. Good to exercise those skills!

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - Hulk01 - 03-25-2025

90 degrees at Colonial GC today. Tough on everyone.

It seems coach Walker needs to go with Andrea RO at #5 for ACCs.
She's a full stroke per round better than Sunberg this season, and a stroke-and-a-half better per round than Chien.

Is Rachel Heck still competing? I thought she announced she was on to other things.

She is in an Air Force training program. But she did receive an invitation to play at ANWA. And I believe that she plans to play (assuming that she has permission from her superiors).

RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 - Hulk01 - 04-02-2025

The ladies are killing it early,  none quite like Ganne.
She has six threes and a two in her first 12 holes and a four stroke lead.
Only Heck, at plus-one, is over par.
