My two cents: I guess it's OK. Probably meant to send a message that the status quo isn't good enough. But without a similar change to the offensive staff--which may be forthcoming, for all I know--I wonder how it will be received in the locker room.

??? I would think April did a pretty good job considering what he was given. I think we need better OL and S&C coaching but what the heck do I know.

EDIT: The Sacramento Bee got a quote from TT about the hire:
Quote: Sacramento State announced Thompson’s resignation Friday morning in a statement, ending his mixed stint with the Hornets, and Taylor confirmed to The Sacramento Bee via text message that Thompson “is joining me as assistant head coach/co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach” at Stanford.
Added Taylor to The Bee, “It is fantastic. I’m fired up. I’m thrilled to have Andy Thompson join our staff. Andy is truly one of the brightest defensive minds that I have ever been around. His players love playing for him ad he will be a great resource to me in guiding our program.”

This seems like it will lock in TT as HC for next season. Not that there was much doubt in that issue.

I mean, neither side of the ball was great, or even good, but the more acute issue has been on the offensive side of the ball. Really wish we would prioritize replacing the offensive coordinator.

IMO, it's impossible for us to know which coordinators are doing a good job (given personnel) or a poor job. So I see it as a mild positive sign that we are willing to make changes, and that someone wants to come join our staff. But really, who knows.

Omitted from all that is the fact Sac St was 3-9 this year and 1-7 in conference. While that might not be enough to get the HC fired, it certainly might give him reason to leave if there was a good offer on the table. TT wanted him from the start to follow him to Stanford. He elected to take the promotion. Maybe he has decided being a HC is not for him, at least right now.

What I don't understand is that if AL is the new GM of ALL football operations, why is the AD still making these football related announcements and not AL? And did AL sign off on this decision as the new GM or was TT on his own? A little confusing to me.

Add Lukas Ungar, Omari Porter, and Kale Lucas and the list is accurate. Rogers is most likely out of eligibility.
