Right -- is there a stat for "Red Zone points scored by Opponent when we have the ball"?

So, our recovery track now is:  Host FLST next week, and then head to Hard Rock stadium MIAMI.  Easy.
So, 2-4 slouches to 2-6...  We needed this upset to make a bowl.
Then we handle PITT in PA, stomp NCAR there, slap down KALSucks, and host the Domers, who will be desperate for a Playoff spot.

So... how do we get to THREE wins?  We bash Belichick, and finish... 3-9.

Well FSU is now 0-3 in their last three games. It's not inconceivable that we might beat them at home. Unlikely, but not inconceivable.

Brilliant stance! Give us your thoughts on buggy whips.

I believe. And this butt will be in the stadium.

I'm passionately against them -- what kind of a savage would whip an innocent horse.

Box score: https://www.espn.com/college-football/recap/_/gameId/401754561

Johnson Jr. is a weapon.  Too fast for Stanford.

Stanford penalties: 10 for 95 yards.  That's at least a touchdown's worth of penalties, not including the touchdown that was nullified because of a penalty, and also not including the subsequent pick-six after the nullified touchdown.

Kenney had a 52 yd FG nullified by an SMU penalty that gave Stanford a first down...but that drive would eventually be turned over on downs with a failed fourth and goal rush attempt up the middle.  Poor Kenney...what a leg that the OC is not really putting to good use.

As long as the OL is not doing well, why aren't we throwing tunnel screen-type quick release plays?  SMU got a TD off of one.

Roush continues to show non-NFL type behaviors, such as fumbling. But 8 rec for 89 yds is decent. I think he was the intended target on the pick six (two defenders stepped in front of him).

The SMU blitzes are sometimes telegraphed, but I'm not sure if anyone has the presence of mind (or time, I suppose) to call an adjustment.  SMU finished with six sacks and eight TFLs.  Yikes.  Gulbranson doesn't really see pressure, and he doesn't bail soon enough many times.

Target distribution: CJ Williams and Sam Roush combined for 15 of the 22 Stanford receptions.  Six pass-catchers accounted for the other seven receptions.  Gulbranson had his favorites today.

Stanford and SMU were roughly equal in total yards (not counting penalty yardage I guess) and +13 min in TOP.  But it wasn't even close with the turnovers (fumble, pick six, downs).  Scoreboard.

RE: SMU Game Thread - BostonCard - 10-11-2025

If we had scored 14 points for the two times we had first and goal, instead of allowing a pick-six, SMU would have still won, but it would have wound up something like 27-24, which is a bit more reflective of the relative yards for each team.  I’m not saying that we screwed the pooch here and should have won; SMU was clearly the better team.  But the score could have been much closer than it was.

BC

Yeah... a 95-yard pick-SIX doesn't show up on either team's Yardage gained.  Add that to SMU.

So, next week will be a track meet:  FLST averages 560 yds a game, and 47 points -- Average.   Balanced attack.
Then the following week, we travel to MIAM to play the BEST DEFENSE in the ACC, allowing just 13 points a game.
The WORST three Offenses in the ACC are KalSucks, then Stanford, then NCAR BeliSucks.
After the road trip to Hard Rock, FL then we get 3 of 4 at home to finish on Nov. 29 (Domers) and study for finals.
At Big Game, KalSucks could come in at 6-4, if they beat both NCAR and VTEC (likely), losing to VIRG and @LOUV.
Last two years they finished 6-6 before bowls.  Last two years, Bears went bowling; we didn't.
Last time we won Big Game -- 2020 on a late blocked PAT.  Bears own the axe.  Taking it this year is our bowl game.

December = Find a coach, start working the Portal for O-Line with fresh Brad Freeman NIL money.

Beat NCAR, PITT and KAL, putting us at 5-7, which shows momentum as Harbaugh did in 2008.
2009 was then our turnaround year with Luck, Gerhart, and an O-Line.  Crushed Troy in the Coliseum.  Finished 8-5.

Re the many comments suggesting Freeman $ should be focused on OLine
I agree, but with the caveat it should be OLine + DLine.
A good DLine makes whole rest of D suddenly look better
I realize that would reduce some what’s available to OLine
But I think better to balance the investment towards both lines

agree......both OL and DL are the key.
