The St. Louis jerseys had a silhouette of the St. Louis Arch on them, but no arch was as high as that rainbow that Bennie tossed in. The swish was so pure, the type where it makes the net flip up above the rim, and the only thing that could have been better would have been if time had expired when the shot went through.
If you rewatch the play, pay attention to Coach Smith, he can't help jumping in unbridled excitement and bumps into Reveno while running around like a kid on Christmas before he remembers to compose himself.
On a neutral court, if fans ran onto the court, would they still assess the technical to a team because they have dumb ass fans? If so, I would be happy to wear the jersey of opposing teams and run onto the court at crucial moments. I understand giving a technical when you are playing at home, but not sure how that would work on a neutral court.
Lost in the glory of Bennie's big shot, Ryan Agarwal hit a brobdingnagian leaning 3 while we were down 71-75 to keep us in the game. He hit it right over Ishan Sharma, another player of Indian descent who was 3-8 from three (St Louis was only 5-20 for the game from three). Sharma appears to not be related to our Josh Sharma, but Agarwal and Sharma are 2 of only 4 players of Indian descent playing D-1 bball.
Interesting selection to even have Bennie on the floor, who at that point had been having a horrible game, 0-2 from the floor, and had not been playing down the stretch. Coach Smith chose Bennie instead of Dent-Smith, who had already hit 4 big threes in the 2nd half, including a big one to answer a Sharma three to tie the game at 71-71, but had just missed a 3 when we were down 71-73. We all know Bennie has stones and it clearly worked out, but a bold decision by Coach Smith that paid off.
Okpara has to be the most no-no-no-pass the ball-no-no-yes! player that I can remember. And sometimes he is a yes-sweet-yes-yes-no! player who makes a beautiful move and then clanks the easiest layup after ten pivots and pump fakes finally gets him free. He is like a bull in a china shop, and every drive of his makes me feel bipolar and emotionally unstable.
We are very Okorie dependent, and we need someone else to step up and share the load. Who will be the Dion Cross or Kris Weems for Okorie? So far Bennie has had some big games, and today Dent-Smith showed up in the 2nd half. Regardless, we need someone to be a second scorer for us.
I really would love to see Donavin Young back but I guess he has some kind of undisclosed leg injury. But he would fill a void of athleticism on the wing (and he shot the 3 really well in small sample sizes last year). I would like to see more of Giltay in the meantime.

Kudos to the coaching staff for finding not only Okorie but also Giltay, who looks like a legit rim protector.
On Okorie, how much NIL money will it take to retain him after this season? And are we building an NIL war chest for men's basketball, or only for football?

That’s what I’m afraid of. A bunch of school will be after Okorie. Coach Smith discovered a gem and now the whole country knows about him. I hope Stanford has some $$$$$$ to offer Okorie and I hope Okorie values great education and wants to play with the incoming class.

Giltay looks like a good defender. Rohosy looks like a good scorer near the basket. Neither of them is good enough on the other end of the court to play for too many minutes a game. Can we get the biology department to work on some sort of hybridization project?
As for Okorie, I refuse to think about next season and am just enjoying each game as it comes. Carpe diem.
