I have no direct knowledge on what are the specific items that need to be either completed or corrected in order for either an occupancy permit or conditional occupancy permit to be issued.  But this issue of securing a permit to occupy can be caused by failure of anyone of the contractor, construction manager (if there is one) the owner or the regulatory agency.  According to the sfgate article there are a list of items that need to be completed.  I would not be shocked if the list of items was something new and caught the contractor, construction manager or owner off guard.

But something a Stanford PM should have been on top of, si como no? AFAIK, <every> major Stanford project - & this is a $50M project - has a school/university-assigned PM.

Stanford 8-1 will play Arizona on Thursday and Texas on Friday. Will the Stanford stadium be available?  Will the rain have passed through the area?

Stanford takes on #15 Arizona tomorrow at 5:00pm.   According to the schedule as of this moment the game is being played at Stanford live streamed on ACCNx and on KZSU.

I don't doubt you, but what are the precedents of this type of disruption for the renovation of an athletics facility? I don't recall these kinds of problems existing when Stanford renovated its football stadium 20 years ago. I think Maples Pavilion underwent a renovation around the same time and a bit before that a pretty major renovation at Sunken Diamond. Did Stanford have these kinds of permitting issues then?

John A knew the rules.
The football stadium was rebuilt within the berm less permits
Maples in 2004 something to do with leaving the main concourse close to before. Less permits
Sunken Diamond was mostly installing seats
Notice the main tennis stadium not
Open yet
I'm told the county is at Stanford right now Hope for good news

I can believe that the absence of John Arrillaga makes a difference, but it shouldn't, right? I've looked through https://maps.stanford.edu/construction/

It says the tennis courts are scheduled for completion on March 30.

The embarrassment for me isn't construction or permitting delays. It's that whoever is in charge from the Stanford side was ignorant (apparently) regarding the necessary permits to the point that Stanford played an entire weekend in the renovated stadium before learning about the permitting issue. That has to be on Stanford, not Santa Clara County, I think.

Exactamente. As I said before, <every> capital project has a school/university-assigned PM who is responsible for getting bills paid, signing off on project milestones - including on permit-related issues -  etc. on behalf of the university, JA, or no JA. One of the business units in my management portfolio was the University Fire Marshall's Office, which is the gatekeeper for all facility project reviews by the County, and the is the first snafu of this sort I've ever heard of - totally sounds like an internal lapse to me.

You are not the only one.  The embarrassment is Stanford opened the Stadium the first week and now it's closed for important games.  Stanford hosting #15 Arizona and #3 Texas at West Valley College is embarrassing.  Also I was planning to watch the live stream which most likely will not happen which makes me mad.

Baseball still playing on Friday. DH Saturday. 4th game either Sunday or Monday. Though looks like weather might be fine for all 4 days now.

No clue yet but our game vs Arizona at West Valley just cancelled. They don’t have lights and first game had a rain delay
