Something I love is bands doing covers of songs Bossanova-style. The most famous practitioners are a group called Nouvelle Vague, which mean New Wave in French. They cover New Wave classics Bossanova-style. Bossa nova means "new wave" in Portuguese. Get it?
They put on a terrific live show which features the signer dancing on the bar to "Too Drunk to F" Everybody I know that likes them seems to like a different song. My favorite is "Teenage Kicks" originally by the Undertones. They somehow have made one of the greatest punk songs even better

Thanks Publius. I was wondering what Hulk's selections were missing, and the answer was in the more jazzy realm. The thing about Jazz, though is that a lot of the best stuff is now 50 years old. But I did discover a great jazz pianist this last year. She's been around a while but was unknown to me. So, I wanted to add Hiromi Uehara to the list.

And yeah, the video has to be watched, rather than merely listened to.
I think some of her best stuff is a bit out of the time range, but I think she did release an album in 2012 (Move), and I include her because I discovered her last year.

I've got to side with Ronnie. As much as a songwriting/producing genius Phil Spector was. He frickin' killed somebody.
Real shame that they had such a dysfunctional marriage. Each of them did their best work together. She was his muse. Of course, Phil's work outside of Ronnie is much more impressive than hers. But he frickin' killed somebody.

Yeah, that was my reaction as well. I LOVE watching the youtube videos of her playing. I could imagine her being thoroughly exhausted and in need of a shower after playing. And I love her facial expressions; she doesn't just feel the music... she wears it. Even if you aren't a jazz fan, she's worth watching.
