I'll be glad to play them in that circumstance. Whoever comes out of the south is going to be a worthy opponent. The North winner is likely to have 2 (or more?) losses.

Re: Week 4 in opponents - akCard - 09-26-2015

Oregon and Arizona, both playing with backup quarterbacks, are also both getting throttled on their home fields. Is this when we start hearing Duck fans bitching about the other team running up the score??

But UofA's backup QB has *zero* touch on his passes; don't know why they just don't run the ball from here on out because for the most part UCLA has been unable to stop their running game.

Re: Week 4 in opponents - pcgoode - 09-26-2015

41-13 for Utah. The Ducks look awful. Defense can't stop Utah, and their offence can't execute. Adams has been pulled in favour of Lockie, and Lockie throws an interception. Byron Marshall is hurt.

Re: Week 4 in opponents - pcgoode - 09-26-2015

Lockie throws second INT in Utah red zone. Brutal.

Wide open PAC12N.

This game is reminiscent of 2013 Stanford vs UO...

No, Oregon's protocol for dealing with losses is to exaggerate their injuries more and more in the weeks following the loss.  (See: 2013)

The North looks pretty middling so far this year.  Big Game 118 could be very meaningful.  If the North champ has 2+ losses, it will likely be at the hands of Southern foes.

The shenanigans on this Utah punt are amazing. First a punt hit the wire for the skycam, and so Oregon had great field position. But the refs called it back, had to review to get field position and clock right, and then Utah ran a fake punt and got it. Oregon just can't get any breaks.

Oh man! I'm loving this beat down of the Ducks!

Well, one team does not a division make.  But I agree.

The golden cubs look pretty solid as well.

Now they know how it feels to get that many points scored against you.  They've been doing that to opponents for years.  Except for Stanford, of course.

Re: Week 4 in opponents - shinsengumi - 09-26-2015

Haha! What a punt return! Ducks are a bunch of chumps!

Re: Week 4 in opponents - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 09-26-2015

Normally I tune out of blowouts like this but watching Oregon get embarrassed at home is scratching me right where I itch.  Schadenfreude is a hell of a thing.

That wasn't a fake punt.  It was a bad, high snap that an incr dialysis athletic punter snagged with a one handed jump then ran 33 yards, breaking at least one tackle.  If they ever want to give the Voldemort to a kicker this is the one.

Impressive that a kicker with kidney failure could have done that.

I wonder how many years you have to go back to find a game where the Ducks were down 42 points. Now 55-13.

Re: Week 4 in opponents - BostonCard - 09-26-2015

In the yech department, Ball State is within a touchdown of Northwestern late in the fourth quarter 24-19.  They've scored over three times as many points against NW as we did, though part of it is because Northwestern has turned the ball over 3 times.

Good question.  If their current point total holds, it will be their lowest scoring output in a game since September 3, 2009 when they scored 8 in a loss at Boise State.  It would be their lowest scoring output in a Pac-10/12 game since October 4, 2008 when they fell to SC 44-10.  That current distinction (lowest total in a conference game since that date) is their 17-14 home loss in 2012 to a certain team in cardinal and white.

I don't have an answer for your question.
